Has RVP been the main reason for Man United going onto winning the title this year? Would they have been dragged into the battle of top 4? One thing is for certain, he has won many games single handedly for them, and his presence has given them a big boost. Fergie on RVP - "His first season with us has been phenomenal and he has given everybody a lift, in terms of his knowledge of the game and his ability."
Any united fan will agree with Fergie. RVP has been instrumental in their success this season. It's no surprise really considering what he did for us last season. I was bitter that he left us for them at the start of the season but you can't begrudge a player who wants to win trophies. It's fair to say that RVP and united are a match made in heaven (in footballing terms)
Just to add its not really RVP I should hate. It's the decision makers at Arsenal that allowed his contract to run down to the point we were 'forced' to sell him. His departure is the main reason for our struggle and Uniteds success I'm pretty sure an 8 year old could analyse the situation and come up with the same answer but it seems that the Arsneal board have the hindsight of a new born baby when it comes to understanding the effect selling your best players will have on the squad.
I agree with your sentiment. Selling him to Man U has ultimately changed the landscape of the Premiership. Couldn't we have sold him to a club in Italy, Germany, Spain or France, even at a cut price?
That would have clearly been more ideal, but it looked like RVP was set on moving to United. Also, neither Barca or Real Madrid wanted him. His other options were Juve or Man City, and he picked Untied out of that three. Our only other option was to keeping him and letting him go on a free, but there was little chance of that happening.
I genuinely believe that Arsenal did everything to try and sell him elsewhere or to keep him, but once Manchester United were interested, there was no way RVP would go anywhere else. It really was a question with just two choices, of RVP sitting on the bench and sulking for a year and then going for nothing, or Manchester United.
