Should we risk extending his contract or get rid - and if he goes, who should we try to buy in his place. Same old dilemma it seems, we need to strengthen elsewhere as a priority but we always end up having to buy expensive strikers instead. It also makes the decision on keeping/releasing Falcao more important than ever.
His contract ends at the end of next season I think? He's plenty time to earn a new one between now and then. Right now he's not really. We've got four very good strikers, it's not a position to worry about.
Aye, contract doesn't end until 2016 so we're in no rush. Doubt he will get a comparable salary offer from anywhere else, so the ball will be firmly in our court. Unless he starts banging them in for fun again, I'd offer him a pay as you play deal, with the understanding that he wouldn't play that many games as Wilson and others come through. If he doesn't like it he can **** off to Yankland along with all the other PL has beens
Not a bad player to have around, I did say when you signed him that he only had two more good seaons in him, it was a guesstimate but it turned out to be an accurate one.
I wouldn't offer him a new deal, don't get me wrong he's still a good player, but he's past his peak, and is only likely to get worse each year from here. I think we need a striker with pace to replace him, not really sure who but we need someone who can run in behind defences. I don't really think there are many obvious realistic targets, as most of the good strikers are already at big clubs
