Bad news. After his job saving heroics against Olympiakos, Robin Van Persie has been ruled out for 4-6 weeks with a sprained knee. He will now miss both Champions League fixtures against Bayern Munich as well as the Manchester Derby. How bad is this for United? Is it now impossible to get past the Germans? Could this spell the end for Moyes? Or might it bring Mata into the forefront? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26686933
his form is average this season .. and in the league we can play mata now behind rooney .. while in CL we need people with pace now bcz we need to counter .. so could not be that disastrous after all and it is 6 weeks by the way ... not sure what are your sources
I think he was referring to their being 2 threads of the same subject Do you reckon this will be a blessing in disguise then? Without RVP might you struggle for goals?
He's your best forward and striker by 40 light years. You are gonna suffer without him, you'd not even be in the CL without his services on Wed. That last performance has you all thinking you are better now and RvP is holding you back
This is a disaster because RVP is a player who thrives on confidence, and that hatrick would have done him the world of good, after a few poor performances from him. I don't really care about missing him in the league, as it'll give us the chance to look at Mata in the number 10 role, plus we have nothing left to play for in the league. We may have had a glimmer of hope in the CL, if we had had an on form RVP up front, as atleast then we would have a striker who is capable of taking every opportunity, but without him we are doomed. The problem we have is well have to switch Welbeck from the left where he played really well on Wednesday and play him up front, and play either an Ashley Young or a Kagawa on the left. Kagawa isn't a left winger, and Young is completely useless. The only other option is we keep Welbeck on the left and bring Hernandez in for RVP, but can we really be relying on a low on confidence, and hardly playing Hernandez. This really is a hammer blow to any slim chance we had of pulling off an upset
If we want to keep the pace and forward momentum up like We had on Wednesday then we need to put Rooney up top with Kagawa behind him and keep Welbeck and Valencia out wide.
I would like to see that, but I don't see Moyes trusting Kagawa enough to play him in the hole. That is Kagawas natural position, so he should give him the opportunity. Either that or play Fellaini as a number 10, the position he used to thrive in at Everton, that could work, though if it went terribly wrong, everyone would be slating Moyes so not sure he'd have the guts to try it. Moyes will just end up taking the easy way out, and sticking Welbeck through the middle, and playing the awful Ashley a Young on the left, or Januzaj who has looked poor for a while now, and never tracks back, which will leave us far to open. Welbeck gives us a lot more pace and energy out there, so we need to keep him there
Now is the perfect time to try to play with a genuin No10 without upsetting one our "star strikers". We have three natural No10s (Rooney is not one of them), Mata, Kagawa and Januzaj. Mata is cup tied in Europe and Januzaj is learning which leaves Kagawa who has proved himself one of the best at the highest level.
