Just wondering if he demands the contract talks be sorted out after the euros what course of action should we take? I think we should just sell him to the highest bidder. (as long as that team isnt in the prem)

It's very possible that Netherlands will reach the final, which is July 1st, RVP will obviously go on holiday for 2 or 3 weeks, if he decides (as I think he will) that he wants away, that gives us no time to replace him.
This is Na$ri and Fabregas all over again, as much as I want RVP to stay, the time has come to take matters into our own hands. Unfortunately this means putting him up for sale. We cannot have a repeat of last years shopping trolley fiasco.

It is a big bloody deal. They didn't come to an agreement so now we have to wait. That is BAD news.

if RVP wanted to stay the negotiations should be easy - especially because Arsenal want to keep him, a day is long enough to sort this out unless personal terms are a sticking point. If RVP wants big money the club will either say yes or no - knowing full what what they are willing to pay. If RVP wants assurances of increase in squad quality (which I think is the most likely sticking point) then he will be waiting to see who Wenger buys. This has swung horribly to the side of him leaving unless Wenger buys well. Its obvious.

If Wenger refuses to buy in some quality I will have one foot FIRMLY in the Wenger out gang, until now I have been neutral on that.

RVP has said he will wait for Wenger's purchases as evidence of the club's ambition.
Failure will mean taking one of many possible offers elsewhere.

    Crystal clear.

I second that. If that happens then it will be the final straw. Quiet summer? **** off Arsene, it better not be..

  8. Totally clear - and has been all season in truth. Several on here had already stated that he would leave unless we finished in the CL and brought in players to help us challange for trophies.

  9. The fact that Wenger would even say the words - "it will be a quiet summer" - just shows how out of touch he is with the fans and his own players. He still thinks he in Mr Untouchable.

A quiet FECKING summer after the poor season we had? Is he ok in the head? He has his best player still to sign a contract, with a raft of top clubs desperate to sign him and he comes out with that peach. If he honestly believes it should be a quiet summer, then he truly is deluded if he thinks RVP is signing on the dotted line. He is also deluded if he thinks anyone in our current squad will save our upcoming season like RVP has.

No way RVP wil be fooled by Wenger's nonsense, he knows better than all of us the waffles that come out from him. Put up or continue to lose your best players. Simple as that....

How can it be Wenger's fault if the club refuses to buy big? Wenger himself has hinted it will be a quiet transfer window.... Personally I don't see RVP staying, it is a no-brainer, he is entering the last 3-4yrs of his career, the way we stumbled over the finishing line, does not really bode well for next season. We finished 3rd (only just) due to the lack of decent opposition in Liverpool, Spuds and Chelsea who were just as poor in equal measures, more importantly, we finished the season almost just as we started it....... We are in the CL next season (the operative word here is IN), we know we have no realistic chance of winning a sausage next season, just another income stream.....

As difficult a pill to swallow, he will go and Arsenal need to start looking at life after RVP NOW. Also all this talk of holding him to his contract is just that, talk and a bit of the old brinksmanship, we simply afford to keep a contract rebel and also lose upwards of 25mill!

  13. The wednesday meeting:

    10:30am WEDNESDAY 16th May 2012

    knock knock..

Wenger open his front door: Ah hello Robin, come in come in... Ivan is already here...

Robin: Hi boss, good to see you - lets hope we can get this done quickly, Bouchra wants to go shopping...

Wenger: Robin, I have listened to Gazidis, he speaks so much sense - just wait, you will want to stay...

Wenger leads Robin to the living room, light footed and delighted with himself...

Gazidis : Hello Mr Robin, I assume you had a good trip over...

Robin : Yes of course, but it's just down the road.. look we can probably do this quickly Mr Gazidis, I just want to talk about our ambition as a club, understand what you are trying to do and hopefully get the paperwork done.... you see I love Arsenal

Gazidis with a condesceing grin : ... Robin, Robin, Robin... you have a lot to learn and so much to open your eyes to..

Let's begin .... I want you to understand our financially sustainable business model, it's a model that makes complete economic sense, a model that ensures the long term success and sustainability of our organisation and fully supports our company values and strategic vision...

    Robin : <confused>

Gazidis... with inane smirk still on face : ... you see we have a vision here Robin and its the sustainable model that will ensure our future and victory in years to come. Its a financial model that we are proud of and it is imperative that our model is a model that we keep to. Our modellers have modelled the future football business landscape and they are confident, as am I, that our model is indeed the only model that will succeed amongst the various models that you see today...

    Wenger : :emoticon-0152-heart

    Robin : <confused>... but...

Gazidis : ... and its this model I want to go through in detail today...

    Robin : <yikes>

Gazidis : ... you see our model has 80 elements that you must consider to be micro models, all coming together in perfect synergies (Gazidis links his fingers together to illustrate synergy) to create the macro model of sustainability... its these 80 micro models that you need to understand in detail...

    Robin : :emoticon-0107-sweat

    Wenger : :emoticon-0152-heart

    ... 2pm....

Gazidis... so you see now that I have explained the first of the eighty micro models that make up the macro model of sustainability you begin to understand just how much the model shapes our destiny as a worldwide corporate success.... let me move on to micro model 2: Understanding the long term viability of debt factoring...

    Robin :

    .....5pm...

Gazidis : so now we have explained 2 elements of our long term sustainability project and how it pertains to our financial model which in fact is a macro model made up of 80 micro models all with detailed modelling carried out by our modellers, you should be starting to see just how important the model we have created is to our long term sustainability in this tough economic climate where sustainability in key....

    Wenger : :emoticon-0139-bow:

Robin : <confused>....er Mr Gazidis, can I get some food, I am very hungry...

Gazidis: I am sorry Robin, but you will understand why you cant eat when we get to micro model 54...

Robin : <yikes> Ok ok, but can i go to the gents please?....

    Gazidis : yes of course.....

    Robin goes upstairs.

Wenger : Ivan it is going so well... I just have a couple of questions about Micro Model 2.... (wenger gets out his note book and pen as Ivan leans back in his chair, still with the condescending smirk)...

    Gazidis : Go ahead ArSENN...

    6PM

Gazidis : Where is Robin? He went to the gents nearly an hour ago --- he must have really been impressed by me and is gathering his thoughts... you watch ArSENN, he'll sign no problem...

Wenger : I will go and get him...

6.10PM (Wenger returns to the living room and informs Ivan that the bathroom window was open and Robin was gone)

I was going to ask Jayram if he was present at the meeting.... You can bet that was how the meeting went (well, ish apart from the bit where RVP escapes through the toilet, trust Jayram to overegg the story!). I think the meeting was just a smokescreen, to tell the fans see, we tried our best to keep him...... he refused to sign and now we have been forced to sell, but don't despair we have a replacement........... Podolski!

    Wenger played an ace card.
Pods can be seen as an alternative or twin striker to RVP - shows intention to challenge next year.
But - he could merely be the replacement should RVP go.

    Smart move.

I must admit I don't know much about Podolski, but can he really replace RVP? Let's try forget RVP of the past season and a half (that was out of this world0, and go back to the RVP of seasons gone by before, technically gifted, very injury prone, blah blah, is this Podolski better than that?

Van Persie wants more quality added to the squad. Wenger does'nt seem willing to do this.

I think the Dutchman has decided to leave unfortunately.

The boards lack of ambition and Wengers reluctance to trim down the squad have royally ****ed our Summer up AGAIN.(I hope im wrong on this though)
