http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/stand...-is-a-quick-fix-not-the-long-term-solution.do While much of what Gullit says about new managers only providng a temporary boost is true (and we have seen that for ourselves on many occasions) what this article ignores is the fact that MH has been specifically brought in to spend a significant war chest. So, an injection of new talent is assured along with the tactics and enthisiasm.
What he fails to address is that Hughes is a clear upgrade over Warnock just as O'Neil is a clear upgrade over Bruce. Results will improve. Now if Blackburn replaced Keane with Hart, hed have a point where the manager is replaced for the sake of it without actually getting a better man in just like we did in the T&C days.
Gullit said " I have not really been following Qpr and don't know the ins and outs of QPR" Well I have. We would not be where we are in the league today if Neil warnock didn't make too many mistake, playing players in the wrong position, making the wrong substitutes at the wrong time and being clueless with his tactics! But none the less Neil Warnock is still a legends for getting us up on shoes string budget which should never be forgotten
Oh really, you HAVE? WOW. Has it ever occurred to you that we were just that little bit lacking, and that the teams who beat us were just marginally better? Marginally. If we were so absolutely terrible as you make it sound up to now, we should've been thrashed 4-0, 5-0 by most of the teams. But we weren't. We held our own. Bringing in some new players that we could shuffle is all we would have needed. They didn't need to spend more money on a new manager (guarantee you that Hughes is getting paid more than double NW's wages) !!! There was a period there where Gabbiddon was out. DJ too. Then Adel. Now we lost Faurlin. Amazing how you can dump on NW so easily. He was doing an amazing job with what he had. Now that we're in a fight, they decide to give him the cash. Well shoot - NW would have loved to have that cash at the beginning. But Fernandes and Co. hasn't quite realized that we can only fill 18,000 at our stadium, not 36,000. Without raising ticket prices, how's he going to pay for such high-priced players? Out of his own pocket, I presume? I don't see any foreign fans around the world buying our kit shirts, do you?
Seems to me that Fernandes has got it just about right. NW had done all he could. There comes a time when any person NO MATTER WHAT THEIR JOB IS runs out of talent. NW had reached that stage despite in my mind being a QPR legend for what he achieved. In terms of bringing in new players, I have heard that we tried to bring in new names, but were turned down because of NW being the manager! Also, in the same way that the team that can get you promotion may not keep you up, the manager that gets you up may not keep you up. Simple! Oh, by the way, Fernandes may well be funding the team out of his own capacious pockets. It's called speculate to accumulate. Quite common in most businesses.
