Yes, he was. Different kind of striker though but way more prolific. RVN was a number 9 and one of the very best we've ever had, up there with Law.
If im going for just the goals RVN wins by a land slide, but RVP Is by far the superior footballer, would of been good to see them side by side would of been a lethal combination
RVN is the second best ever imported striker behind only Fernando Torres * * based on goals scored in their first season
VanNistelrooy for me. Will get you goals whether in form or not, kinda like Chicha, but less pace more power. Just get in and get the job done. Would have complemented Rooney better, though they did play together for a while, but United weren't the top team in England then. And Saha came along, lol.
Anyway, this poll is unfair. RvP is going through a goaldrought and we only have fond memories of RvN. Maybe in 5 years time, when RvP has retired, we can do this so that both of them had enough chances to prove their worth.
RvN was a ****, just wouldn't stop scoring for you lot, and all the talk of his dodgy knee was it before he signed, 1 word, prolific. Mind you he had the best of Giggs Scholes and becks to give him the ball where he needed it. Great player though.
