http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-20639137 I showed a load of them how to get to the stadium from the town - took them to Ingram St and got on the bus with them telling them when to get off etc. The bus I was on was full of Spartak fans - no trouble that I saw but there is something about people loudly talking in Russian that sounds really aggressive. Anyway, showed them what stop to get off at and about four of them shook my hand and off they went. In the ground, the boy next to me said there had been trouble on the Gallowgate earlier (my corpy bus was held up behind a blue light for ages, right enough). I went out for a drink afterwards and never saw any Spartak fans - I must say that I thought, inside the ground, they were a credit to their club. Sang like **** and brought way more fans than Benfica or Barca (or Hearts, or Hibs, actually). Anyway, the last time some Russians caused some bother coming to Parkhead, the Daily Record managed to turn it into our fault - the DR article was posted ceaselessly on BBC 606 by some special case called Medro Pendes. So, how long before the case of these six Russians gets similarly spun? I'll give it until Monday
I was in a supermarket in town on Thursday and it was chock full of angry sounding Russians buying as much booze as they could carry.
I shared a taxi with a couple of ruskies from central station to Parkhead before the game, we ended up in the London Road Tavern drinking together. They had bottles of vodka stashed in their pockets which they duly shared with us 'en all. I've probably got the bad aids now
Inside the stadium they were class, thought they really supported their side well throughout the game. Puts a few other so called "bigger" clubs that have come to Parkhead to shame with the fans they brought. After the game, when I came out they had just been let out the stadium, and were getting a police escort all the way back into town. Must have been 2 coppers for every fan. Cost a ****ing fortune a bet. Didn't see a single bit of trouble. Although, the ruskies are known for liking a wee barney now and again... You see police causing trouble again. I see there was a match in Italy where despite their best efforts the police couldn't get the away support to cause trouble. Reason was at a recent Udiness away they had just one supporter who was excellently behaved throughout.
