Russia will be expelled if any repeat of similar trouble in the stadia over their coming games. Licence for WW3 on the streets. Stupid football authorities yet again!!
In a perverse way, I hope something happens (small incident, obviously and no injuries, perhaps a firework) inside the stadium next time, so that these twats get sent home.
Euro 2016: Russian official tells hooligans 'well done lads, keep it up' after condoning Marseille violence Igor Lebedev is facing widespread criticism after approving the violent fan clashes that marred the start to the European Championship Jack de Menezes please log in to view this image please log in to view this image Igor Lebedev has told the Russian fans responsible for the violence inside the Stade Velodrome 'well done, keep it up' Getty A leading Russian football official has praised the fans involved in violent clashes that has marred the start of Euro 2016, and has encouraged them to “keep it up”. Igor Lebedev, a member of the Russian Football Union [RFU] executive committee as well as an MP of the Liberal Democratic party in Russia and deputy chairman of Russian parliament, made the controversial comments on Twitter in which he claimed that the assault on English fans in the lead up to Saturday’s Group B encounter was vindicated. Lebedev blamed the local authorities for failing to organise the event to the necessary level required to prevent such outbreaks of violence, and he also criticised England fans for provoking their opponents, claiming that they brought the trouble on themselves. please log in to view this image England fans must look at themselves after Marseille violence Writing in a series of posts on Twitter, Lebedev said: “I don’t see anything wrong with the fans fighting. Quite the opposite, well done lads, keep it up! “I don’t understand those politicians and officials who are criticising our fans. We should defend them, and then we can sort it out when they come home. “What happened in Marseille and in other French towns is not the fault of fans, but about the inability of police to organise this kind of event properly. “Our fans are far from the worst; it’s unclear why a lot of media are trying to say our fans’ actions were shameful. You should be objective. If there had been no provocation from English fans, it’s unlikely our fans would have got into fights in the stands.” In additional quotes given to Russian news agency life.ru, Lebedev added: “In nine out of 10 cases, football fans go to games to fight, and that’s normal. The lads defended the honour of their country and did not let English fans desecrate our motherland. We should forgive and understand our fans.” Russian supporters involved in the gang attacks have been condemned for the violence that saw riot police use tear gas to try and disperse large groups on three consecutive days after the clashes began on Thursday night. Uefa launched an investigation into the events that followed the 1-1 draw at the Stade Velodrome, with England fans seen fleeing for safety as they were charged at by Russian supporters. 19 English fans were taken to hospital following clashes throughout Saturday, and Uefa has also threatened both nations with disqualification from Euro 2016 if the unsightly scenes happen again. The Russian sports minister, Vitaly Mutko, conceded that Uefa was right to launch the investigation, despite initially playing down the incident inside Marseille’s stadium. Mutko was seen cheering on the Russian fans after the match, when the clashes were taking place in front of where he was standing. “It’s clear that some people didn’t come here to watch football. They’ve covered their faces and then brought shame on their country,” Mutko said. However, Lebedev suggested that had Mutko been one of the fans in the Stade Velodrome stands, he too would have attacked the English supporters “because they provoked it”. please log in to view this image Russia and England fans clash at the end of their 1-1 draw in Marseille (AP) “We ought to thank him for not being indifferent to football, and for the fact that he doesn’t just get involved in the sporting side but also gives a lot of attention to work with the supporters,”Lebedev added. “I personally think that if Mutko had been with the fans in the stands and was not an official, he would have also have got into the fight with the England fans, because they provoked it.”
Just going back to the OP EUFA have said that events external to stadia perimiters "fall out ouside it's remit". Fair enough for me. It's unequivocally now in the hands of the French authorities and they have to start taking responsibility for law and order on their own streets. These tournaments are huge for prestige and bring a boost to local economies. That's why the bids are always government backed. Surely, as part of that, governments must have a duty of care, an obligation to the overwhelming majority of fans to ensure their safety whatever the provocations of a tiny number of pissed-up, roided-up meatheads? Disinterestedly chucking the odd canister of tear gas while shrugging your shoulders falls way short of this and people somewhere in the French authorities need to be held accountable for this abrogation of responsibility. There should be a proper investigation. There won't. We should know where the buck stops. We won't. Lessons should be learnt. They won't. Russia 2018.
Pure and simple take the 2018 World Cup away from Russia and ban them from all competitions for the next 10 years until they get there house in order.... FIFA/UEFA won't have the balls to do it......
Yeah it's funny on one level but at the risk of broadening this out too much it's a good illustration of just how detached from reality. how downright thick and unimaginative some people are. These Russians aren't messing about with this. They "train" for football violence in forests, roid up in gyms and turn up with gumshields, MMA gloves and bumbags full of weapons. They've often been trained in military or security forces. I mean just look at some of the videos from Marseille. "Our boys" have lots of premium strength lager (and guts to match), plastic furniture and songs about the IRA/ISIS/10 German bombers. It's laughable. Were it just these ******s the Russians targeted I'd say have at 'em. Maybe they'd come home chastened and a bit wiser and our pubs, clubs and city centres wouldn't be weekend war zones. It wasn't just these cretins who got caught up in it though. Spoiler: Two of the Polish groups now in France Spoiler: It's amazing how much much you can learn inside 2 days-aka the twitter timeline of a moron I think it's a bit of a grey area to be fair and I must admit I was under the impression that anything in the immediate vicinity of a match was actionable by UEFA but they are plainly saying "not us guv".
Big time. Do they want to send home the hosts of the next world cup? Hmm, thought not. I think it was Alan Green I heard on radio saying he had sat down to negotiate his new contract with BBC. His starting position was that he refused to go to Russia in 2018 under any circumstances. Says a hell of a lot when a seasoned journo declares a country a no-go zone.
Yeah he did and fair play to him. Of course broadening it out even more it does yet again put FIFA and it's decision making in the spotlight, a day after a 22-year old Dutch woman was fined and deported for being drugged and raped while on holiday in Qatar. It's obvious that these backward ****holes shouldn't be anywhere near hosting prestigious international sporting events. Spoiler: But somehow, for some reason they are FIFA
It was obvious that England fans would now 'mob up'. Spoke to my mate out there and the QPR boys are all sticking together and staying in larger groups. I don't think much will happen TBH as Marseilles was the perfect place to attack us with local youths having a go at us as well. Different story in Lens as more England fans are heading out and our boys will be more vigilant.
Well, it didn't take long, they're already off in Lille this evening... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-Euro-2016.html?ito=social-twitter_mailonline
England and Wales fans at a pub joined up and sang "were England and Wales, f off Russia were England and Wales". fair play because they were orrible twunts at that play off final.
"England fans will not be welcome abroad if the "undertow of racism" linked to their hooligans is not dealt with, the SNP has claimed. Joanna Cherry insisted Scotland has "world class" fans who know how to behave themselves, adding the country has been able to deal with the serious hooliganism of the 1970s." Spoiler http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...cism-is-not-dealt-with-says-snp-a7081776.html
At last! 2 Russians arrested and a bus load in Nice were deported. These pig faced inbreds really should be kicked out of the Euro's. In fact they should lose the right to host the World Cup.
