Rumour on the Carroll fee

There are rumours circulating on Merseyside that if Liverpool win the Europa League and qualify for Europe next season we will get another £10m!

On a separate note, I'm inclined to believe the text saga that is starting to unfold.

Andy Carroll had stated numerous times his love for the club and his desire to emulate Shearer etc.. This being the reason he committed to a 5 year deal with us last year.

It is very likely that Mike Ashley found £35m way to hard to resist and, so as to not lose the fans too much, fabricated the transfer request line to put the blame onto Andy.

I wish that he hadn't left as he was a club legend in the making, but I wish him well at Liverpool and hope he goes on to fulfil the promise he's showed so far. When he makes his inevitable return to SJP, lets give him a polite round of applause and not vitriolic booing etc. I think he'll get.

Please Mike Ashley, invest all that £35m in the summer.

You can't just make up a transfer request - either it exists or it doesn't and since Andy hasn't refuted it, clearly it exists. Fact is, Andy submitted a transfer request - and once that happens it's end of story. And I don't like the guy, but I'm not surprised Ashley found £35m hard to resist, it's a crazy offer!
