MM wants at least three new signed players................. apparently being given the financial backing to bring in 6 players was one of the conditions that MM laid down before taking the job on whether this is 6 now, or signing some more in the January wibdow, well I don't know, but a couple more now wouldn't go amiss
I agree we still need quite a lot more, I think we need atleast 2 for every position. I think the defence is sorted now that we have Taylor, but for me, we still need 7 yes 7 more players. In the middle of midfield we have Mcphail, Cowie and Wildig, there are others like Farah but I don't think they'll be playing a part in first team matters just yet. So we still need atleast another centre mid, rumours of Aron Gunnarson so maybe him? Out wide we have Conway and Whitts (If he stays which I believe he will), clearly we need strengthening in this area, not neccesasarily with first team players as I believe Conway and Whitts will be on the right and left respectivley, so 1 or 2 signings in this area for me. Upfront is clearly the position that needs filling the most. Parkin is a good 'last throw of the dice' when were losing player but nothing more than that, definitley not a starter IMO. With (hopefully) the imminent signing of Goodwillie to be announced later this week, we should be looking for 2 more strikers after Goodwillie in my opinion. A few rumours going around with earnshaw, Bellamy etc being mentioned, but we'l lhave to wait and see what Malky has up his sleeve. I saw a thread earlier that we might be signing Tom Bradshaw from Shrewsbury, apparently a bit of a 'wonderkid' but does anyone know if there is any truth in this rumour? Saw it on another messageboard as well. IF this did pay off I'd be pleased but anxious if the season started with our frontline consisting of Parkin, Goodwillie, Bradshaw and Jarvis.... Not that I think It'll come to that, I'm an optimist and I'll and see what happens in the coming weeks .
Because we let so many players contracts run down and had a lot of loans we are down alot of players. Heaton Marshall McNaughton Quinn Naylor Blake Taylor Hudson Gyepes Gerrard Keinan Mcphail Conway Cowie Whittingham Taiwo Parkin Only 17 seniors. I do think Wildig will step up this season, and hopefully the likes of Meades, Farah and Jarvis will get a chance. Definatly need atleast 2 strikers (Goodwillie, Earnshaw, Bellamy?) and more midfielders. Interesting to see what formation we'll be playing next season.
I'm reading a lot about Aron Gunnarsson this morning but every link I can find references WoL so... http://www.coventrycity-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/gunnarssons_agent_hints_at_move_soon_684876/index.shtml http://www.football.co.uk/coventry_city/gunnarsson_s_agent_hints_at_move_soon__rss1706949.shtml No offence to the guy but there's another Aron [sic] I'd prefer to see here
Would that be the one on a G string? I think you should go pubic (sorry public) on that one H...........
We need a midfield destroyer. We haven't had one since Kav. Though, in fairness, Gavin Rae did have one decent season. But I'm sure no one's gonna argue he was ever going to be premier league. Perhaps we need to look abroad for this type of player? Can't think of any in the UK who would be cheap enough? We've only had one successful signing from outside the UK under DJ (five years) and who knows how much longer after that!?
Oi Oi Captain. WoL knicked that interview from Talksport. The whole thing is here. No reading necessary!... http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/sp...y-bellamy-terrific-player-he-belongs-man-city
no idea DD but we could give it straight to Coventry "There are many clubs who want to sign Aron and Cardiff City are among the favourites. "Nothing has been finalised yet, but a deal should be completed within the next 24 to 48 hours. The main factor to be finalised is a compensation payment to Coventry City." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_7021867,00.html
That's okay just get Celtic to pay Cov direct - might save us VAT. Is VAT payable on players' transfer fees? Or are they like cars, you just pay VAT on the new ones and nothing on second hand? LOL.
Might be wrong, but I don't believe we get compo as they're in a foreign league. The under 24 thing only applies to the English League.
The Ledley thing at Celtic threw this up before. I maybe totally wrong in this but isn't it 24 between clubs in the English pyramid, but 23 when it comes to deals to other association clubs? Wasn't that why Celtic got away with not paying a bean for Ledley? If that is the case, there should still be something in there for Mathews as he's only 19 this season.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...atthews-linked-to-celtic-move-91466-28235249/ Bottom of that artical reckons £200K. I didn't realise the different age limits between associations.
