According to a friend, who has a relative working at the FA (albeit in quite a lowly position), Terry, Cahill, Lampard, Cole and (strangely) Barry said they would withdraw if Ferdinand was to get a place in the England side.

Roll on 2013 when Terry and his mates can be retired and Roy can pick the team without interference. (Which is the real reason Capello beggered off.)

Take this with a pinch (or two) of salt. But my mate is convinced ... and he is a scum supporter.

That's shocking if it's true. What happens when Rooney finds out?

I said ages ago neither should have gone or both but if one went it had to be Terry.

I can totally understand Lampard, Cole and Cahill wanting to pull out in support of their captain/friend, lets be honest England fans have treated them like **** down the years anyway, but Barry? Must be something to do with Tevez I have no idea.

All of the "Golden Generation" should have been scrapped after the World Cup debacle anyway, if they don't want to fight for the cause, pull them out.

England have no chance if thats true, not just for this tournament but for the whole time Hodgson is in charge.

Hes nothing but a lapdog without a backbone if this is true.

Hopefully, and I say this as an England supporter who's shelled out £90+ for tickets for the Belgium friendly in a couple of weeks time, I sincerely hope we are out of the tournament at the first hurdle so the excuse for a complete cull of Terry and his pathetic arse-lickers can take place. I wouldn't be surprised if what you heard is true Eamon, and even if it isn't the sooner this cancer is cut out of the national side and we can all get behind players we can respect the better...

Why the **** would they withdraw if Ferdinand got a place?! because his BROTHER was allegedly (not even alleged by him) racially abused by TERRY

    what the actual **** <laugh>

Lampard and Terry should be nowhere near the team purely based on footballing reasons, and Baines has had a better season than Cole.

I have given up with England. I will watch the games if I am around, but I wont make a special effort to.

The whole set-up is wrong and the vast majority of the 'older' players should have been shipped out after the 2010 World Cup, and should never have made the 2012 Euro Squad. I cannot support England whilst John Terry is part of the set-up. Not just because of the court case, but because I hate the man. He is everything that is wrong with the England squad.

I have no passion towards the England Football Team, and that wont change for the foressable future I am sure.

Well if that is true I'm going to struggle to muster any support for our national team this year. And i'm someone who spent 13 years travelling with England from Albania to Hong Kong (Trust me JB is right....Alan ShearerISs a complete knob)

Eamon-Any chance of re checking your info 'cos i really would appreciate it.

Its none of my business (like that ever stopped me) as its not my team but wasn't it Rio that decided not to talk to Terry?

I can see where those players are coming from although to threaten to withdraw from the squad is a step too far.

Hodgson should've called their bluff, one way of rooting out the player-power merchants who've helped f*ck up the national team...

Once again I find myself echoing one of your posts Judo. What you've said pretty much sums it up for me. I used to go to a lot of England matches, not anymore. The last two tournaments and the whole England set up did it for me. I'm bored of England and Euro 2012 already.

Would love to say that i am suprised by the OP, but, sadly I'm not.

Judo spot on again mate....What ever happened to scrapping the team and starting from scratch? Thought that was the plan a few year ago.?

    Can't agree with you there.

The Pool of English players to pick from is poor.

If it's based purely on footballing reasons Terry, Cahill, Lescott and Jones have to go. I'd have put Smalling in ahead of Jones but he is injured.

Baines has been good if both are at their best Cole has to go. Since AVB left Cole's form has been remarkable and almost back to what it was 2 years ago.

People were always going to complain, but bar the selection of Downing and Henderson (standby) there isn't much wrong with the squad IMO, the rest are all subjective but every football fan would agree those two shouldn't be going <ok>

The whole lot are ****. Most English players are not a PATCH on players coming from other countries - Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Holland. It's the way we're taught to play.
We're thrown onto 11 a side at 12 (Yes, I was thrown into this as a goal keeper); It just teaches you how to play long ball football - no technique is needed, just speed and strength, with enough f**king power to take the goalie's head off...

    Rant over. <grr>

Youngone, you've got right down to the root of the problem. Kids in South America and on the Continent are taught to love the ball. Ours are taught to be afraid of it.

If Andy 'cart horse ' Carroll can literally run rings round Terry as in the Cup Final, what do you think the French forwards and Ibrahimovic, if he's in the mood, will do? Remember what the Germans did to him in the last World Cup? This may be bad enough to be funny.......shame because I like Roy, and certainly don't believe the OP. Rio is knackered, wouldn't hold up for the group stages, but still a far better player than Terry. Thank God expectations are low.
