Bristol City stance over Antoine Semenyo revealed amid Anderlecht and Crystal Palace interest The Bristol City forward is recovering from knee surgery but has returned to first-team training this week https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-antoine-semenyo-anderlecht-5774595 2 Bristol City players who could leave Ashton Gate before the 31st August transfer deadline https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/2...ate-before-the-31st-august-transfer-deadline/
So City's stance on Semenyo with Anderlecht hovering, LJ splashed out £10.5m on Nagy ans Kalas I wonder what return we will get 0n that investment if they both decide to leave, the rumble continues.
Realistically? 3.5mil if we are lucky, don't forget 1.5mil we paid for Moore who looks like he may going and let's be brutally honest, how long is Wells going to accept being on the bench (16 goals in 60 odd games) another 4mil.
So Kalas,Nagy,Taylor - More £12m and if Wells moves £4m, SL must be pucking at the possible loss of money,, £16m plus, no wonder NP is shakled, somebody has wasted all the money.
there is a certain amount of levelling going on across most of football below the top leagues. Sort of like INVESTMENT bonds that are based on a wide range of things including Property! in 1988 the industry had a major overhaul of property values [ a lot of insurance/investment companies owned land /buildings ] it resulted in some people suddenly finding their policy/bond had dropped by a lot... 40%! Covid has done the same indirectly … £'s millions wiped out of the income for 90%+ of clubs KALAS and NAGY likely to be valued at around £4m and £1m respectively … in a year maybe £5 & £2. ? m should they have a good season! premier clubs that have not spent yet with TV money might add a £m to their tag....
as an aside ………………. "To get a player of Dennis' quality at 19 speaks wonders in terms of what we're trying to do," Sunderland boss Lee Johnson told the club website.external-link "He is a top talent and he's very highly regarded within the game." was it all Ashton?
No doubt we won't see the £10.5million but tbf I think Kalas is worth more than £3.5million alone. And the other 63 ?
It's just different times, had it not been for COVID, those values would have held. But hey, you keep beating LJ with it
Come on Supcon, your alter ego mentioned Webster and Brownhill. Isn't fair to question the other 63 ?
I think it's grossly unfair to keep on comparing NP's performance against LJ, it's not his fault that we have suffered from poor recruitment, selling of key players and having weak medical and poor fitness regimes.. Ashton and Johnson legacy is Pearsons inheritance, he spent time on a tempory contract giving both sides time to see if they could work together, a 3 year contract was signed, he was employed to scrutinize, analyse, expose the weaknesses inherant on the playing side of our club, he was honest, he knew the size of the task and he told us not to expect miracles, lower our immediate expectancey, it would take 2 to 3 years and we must be patient, he warned he would take some actions and they would not necessarily be popular. He spent the tali end of last season with all players, he wiped the plates clean and all were given time to shine, we all know the actions taken, players and staff were culled and reduced, a new approach to our medical department and fitness programs, replacement signings and pre season took place, everything has happened in an organised and professional way. It's not his fault we have all suffered from a 18 month pandemic,no incoming finance, empty stadiums, out of contract players, CEO leaving, our club has empty pockets and he has has to utilise all , youngsters, recovering players and free signings, not a peep, not a moan, not a complaint, he is just getting on with his task. We have played 1 league game and drew, 1 league cup game and lost on penalties, he accepted the task, he should benefit or suffer the consequences, he is getting on with the job, will you be one of the fans calling for his head if we lose Saturday after just 2 games. I won't.
I do blame LJ, he was in charge, he failed his task, it was his mess we were left with, SL sacked him and he deserved it, I can't change history.
I see, that your tips are as good as your analysis on LJ's astounding efforts to making us a decent outfit over 4 seasons, matched by no one in 40 years!! Let's hope we do better than, 2nd from last this season!!!
Here we go again, no I won't retaliate, the mans has long gone and yes he did give us some progress, from 17th to 12th in 4.5 years and a brilliant, supportive owner.
Just like Steve Cotterill before him. I have never said that LJ didn't fail at his task. I just didn't take the sheer delight of you and others that yet another manager couldn't get us to the top level of English football. I am never happy when a BCFC manager gets sacked, as it generally means we have failed as a club to reach where we wanted to be. Also, 63 players in 5 years for a team aiming for the top flight is not that many, especially in the modern era with the number of loans allowed. I have asked many times on here in response to the 63 being thrown around, what was the Net Spend during LJs tenure, as that is the true measure.. I'm guessing that won't suit your's and RPs point of view; hence you never respond!
Spot on Wiz the football side was in a dire mess-NP has the bit between the teeth-some fans can moan all they like this is a monster job to turn our fortunes and yes he is the man with the experience-know-how to sort this out.We all new the job in hand-SL and JL have given him the reigns to sort it out.
