http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11709/8897329 Damn right he is. Hart has been seriously sub-standard for over a season now. His form for England has not been good and at times he has cost Man City points. Ruddy is a fine 'keeper. I think the impact of his injury last season cannot be underestimated. If I were to criticise him based on his return from injury, it would be only that his distribution, particularly kicking, needs work.
After seeing Ibrahimovic make a complete arse of Hart, I think his been outstanding his welcome. Easily one of the most overrated goalkeepers in the game.
The thing is he was brilliant. When Man City won the league, he was top class. Unfortunately, that is now looking rather like a flash in the pan. He is talented, no doubt, but the very best 'keepers maintain form year after year.
Roy seems to be backing hart for now, well that's what he is saying in the media. at least he (roy) is picking the odd player from 'unfashionable' clubs, e.g Lambert, so there must be hope for John.
Ruddy's problem is convincing Hodgson IMO Hodgson still regards Ben Foster and Jack Butland as his No 2 and No 3. Hart has been very poor for past 18 months, but will still play both qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.
I have noticed a bit of pressure in the papers - even the Metro, which (aside from the odd online article by the Norwich fan) barely acknowledges our existence, stated that Hart has been awful and with Foster out and Butland without first team experience, Ruddy should be given the chance.
Hart looks to have been a one big season wonder and looks to me more like a posing model with a fancy hairdo. John Wuddy is by far and away the better goalie and Ben Foster is similarly ahead of Hart who is 3rd choice at best IMO
What gets on my nerves is that I keep see people coming out and saying there is no one pushing hart at international level, its like no other keeper exists apart from him.
If roy bothered to allow other keepers game time in friendlies, there wouldn't be a question of lack of keepers pressing him for his spot. As it is roy is so determined to keep hart as no1 he won't experiment as to try and get hart's mojo back. But it seems to be lost at the moment. I'd have ruddy and forster over hart at the moment with hart as 3rd choice, ben foster nowhere near.
Fraser Forster had a good year last year too, better than Hart. I do think Hart is a very good keeper but he has been pretty much told he's the number one choice at every level he plays and has gotten cocky, theres little reason for him to improve as his failing aren't having any effect on his position. I wouldn't be surprised to see Man City lose faith in him before Hodgson does. Better hope Ruddy has a fantastic season.
Too right, Birmingham turned down 6 million from Southampton in 2012 for him which I thought was incredible, they could have signed Myhill back cheaply within hours, and used the rest to build a promotion squad instead of finishing 12th. Didn't realise that he hadn't played for Birmingham before his call up. But I do know that the England coach David Watson was coincidentally his coach at Birmingham!
He didn't do very well when he came in and the Hoolahan free kick was the last straw. Artur Boruc had just been signed and sorted us out in goal for the second half of the season, too late to save Adkins though I suppose. Gazzaniga is third choice now, he's only 21 though so hopefully he gets a loan out this year.
Snodgrass free kick! Poor guy, that was a bad one though. I seem to remember seeing a stat that Snodders scored more free kicks last season then anyone in any season since Ronaldo was at Man U, and it was down to Gazza! I think Boruc looks good. I understand he's been keeping szczesny out of the Poland team.
