Selections were rubbish.

1. Nyatanga was solid enough BUT by playing him McInnes unbalanced the back 4.
Crying out loud, how many times did Fonts turn back across himself on to his left foot(he can't kick with his right) and send the ball back across to Nyatanga and McGivern and some clowns on the radio wondered why Albert was totally ineffectual 1st half.
2. McInnes dropped Cisse and selected Pearson/Woolford. Madness.
Result - Kilkenny played in our half and not theirs and the same clowns wonder why Maynard wasn't in the game.

Forest are, without doubt, the worst side we've seen at Ashton Gate this season and it took a wonder save from James to get us a draw.

Sorry Derek to get the best out of the current squad at BCFC you have to play Cisse with Elliot which allows our only creative player Kilkenny to play in the opposition half.

Derek - you lost us 2 points today.

derek lost us nothing, points a point at the moment, he is a manager we are not, he gets to see the team every day and if that was the side he thought was capable of winning then thats that, theres a reason why nyatanga played and a reason why cisse didnt, becasue derek said so, the forrest defence sussed albert out and like i said before on another post you cut kilkenny out you cut albert out, you cut albert out you cut maynard out

i look at it as a point and a clean sheet, were not in relegation zone, and we have a nice fixture next, keep positive

I cant understand this thing with dropping Cisse?

Derek set the side up to be more attacking and actually achieved the opposite, Cisse allows kilkenny to play in the last third, not sat so deep in our half. We have four very left footed defenders and midfielders who struggle to come inside on to their right foot, very easy to suss out and very easy to defend against.

The movement in front of them was not that great either.

We destroyed Southampton and were forced in to changes with firstly Elliot then Pearson unable to play but we need to go back to what was working (at least until it stops working)

The best midfield we have is Pearson, elliot Cisse kilkenny, Adomah.

Woolford , not for me.

What part of any of that statement do you disagree with? the very last sentence is harsh (I blame the players personally) as is the title and opening sentence.

The rest I'm afraid is absolutely spot on. whether you like it or not!

Greetings from Krakow!
I went to the game yesterday, an I would agree we were very poor. Woolford was particularly poor and should have been subbed before half time. Blackstock made him look stupid. Forest had a game plan and to be fair it worked - they kept everyone behind the ball and happily watched us pass it around in our own half without doing them any damage.
Albert only came into life for 10 minutes or so in the second half and missed a golden opportunity to put Pearson through.

This was one we couldn't afford to lose - and we didn't - but we will need to be much better if we want to stay in this div.

or gained us one!

absolutely both teams needed not to lose, and both were happy to "snatch" a win if the opportunity arose.

When picking the "score" for this game I made a statement it was hastily written and was supposed to have been worded differently missed out "lack of"..0-0

I gave a different score as I have done previosly to what I worked out the result might be...Saw the score late Saturday night and immediately thought....

....... Coventry on Boxing day will be interesting.a lot of these Christmas fixtures tend to throw up weird results...............

I do fear for our safety a bit now after the last 3 results and performances, although I think Del will buy in January.

The gap to the batch of teams immediately above us continues to grow week by week as the other teams gain points on us and pull away, and with Doncaster beating Leicester they are also now right behind us when 3 games ago we were well clear of them.

We badly need to win at Coventry there's no doubt about it, as any other result will probably see us back in the bottom 3 and possibly one from bottom.

I agree with Banksy, it was the players, not the manager who must carry the blame, Derek played the same back four as took us on a six game unbeaten run, so no blame there, the only difference was Cisse, i thought Derek went a little more attacking with his formation, and it backfired a little.
He's going to try these different formations from time to time, sometimes they work sometimes they don't, at the moment he can only play with what he's got, and we are where we are because of that.
Roll on January and see what happens.
Keep up the good work D & D.

You can argue whether this player is better than another (just opinions) but playing them (Fonts) out of position makes things a lot worse.
Getting 'Basics' wrong worries me.
And by dropping Cisse stopped Kilkenny getting past the halfway line. Playing Marv and Cisse will help us create many more chances than playing an extra striker because NK will play in the opposition half. It also helps our defending as well as results proved. Baffles me why DM changed a successful formula, it also worries me as the idiot Millen made the same mistake.

Now McInnes is looking for ( as GJ would say) 'another club in the bag'. Presume he means another Adebola and some on here gave that as an early reason for GJ's demise. Have to say DM's comments about big strikers does seem a bit outdated. Anyway, fingers crossed.
We visit cast adrift Coventry next week. If McInnes makes BASIC mistakes ie Cisse and Wilson on the bench, whether we win or lose, it's an early indication that he may not be the man I hoped for.

Cisse & Wilson played at Derby, we lost & played badly.................Cisse was very, very poor & had to be dropped after that showing, James Wilson is a good prospect & I have no problem with him in the team (although I'am happy with Lewin Nyatanga too). I see where you are coming from RP, With Cisse & Elliott in the mid-field, it does allow NK to have more room & get his passing game going, Cisse has to improve however & I hope he does. I'am impressed by City's defensive displays since DM arrived & Liam Fontaine has been superb, David James is playing his best since he's been here too, still that's MO anyhow.

In any contest like pistols at dawn, battles and wars, it is important NOT TO LOSE, because if one does not lose, one lives to fight another day. Modern football isn’t much different!
I sensed from the post match interview with McInnes that he was more concerned that we did not lose this one to Forest who would have leap frogged over us. Since his arrival, he’s managed to rebuild a great deal of confidence in our squad, so imagine how dented that would have been if we’d lost.
We got a point and stayed out of the bottom three – that was very important to keep the fragile confidence factor going.
Now at Coventry, it will be a game he will be looking to win. And IF we do, then I hope he gives it a go at Southampton otherwise if we go there with all out defence as our tactic they’ll probably steamroller to punish us for having the temerity to beat them at the Gate. But if we lose trying to win and put up a creditable show, then confidence will survive that.
McInnes says he is looking for a striker, does that mean he does not rate Stead or Ryan Taylor or simply disregarding them because they aren’t fit?

"Cisse & Wilson played at Derby, we lost & played badly"

We were 1-0 up when Cisse was taken off at Derby and our midfield fell apart! Wilson or Nyatanga is neither here or there for me but he is very badly left footed, we are better balanced with Wilson, no doubt

"Cisse was very, very poor"

Absolutely dont agree!

i not sure if something quite not right with cisse which him and Derek are trying to manage and are just trying to get through to Jan where will be able to get cover also passing needs to look at when it goes to the right hand side of defence they slow it down and pass in a straight line or backwards and our poor winger in space doesnt get the ball when first open if at all which forces killkenny back to try and get the ball so he can spread it out
