Anyone. Im genuinely not fussy. Ideally someone who will be happy to manage in the championship to attempt a promotion push.
I still believe there is hope of staying up… not much…. But some…. We should’ve been cut adrift a long time ago but weren’t…. I’d take Bielsa… hell, I’d take Ralph on a no strings contract till the end of the season…
I'm guessing there will be two schools of thought here. There will be some fans who haven't yet given up hope of surviving. I admire those fans, and wish that I was still one of them, by the way. They will presumably be more open to a short-term, survival at any cost, type of appointment. There will then be other fans, myself included, who sadly have no hope left. And they will presumably be looking more towards next season, and hoping that we can make an appointment which puts us in the best possible position for an immediate return to the PL. I really don't want us to be looking for yet another manager in four months time.
I was just thinking this too. it’s interesting how these feel like two very different types of manager (and that Jones feels like neither)
Someone who can see how to change the set up of the team to stifle opponents when they are in ascendency and to take control of a game. Someone who has seen an opponent red carded and who then thinks “let’s go 4 at the back and put an extra man in the middle to keep better possession of the ball”, so we can move them around and tire them.
Hopefully the board have been duly diligent and have being identifying a new manager for some time now.
It would be irony worthy of a Harold Pinter play if Rúben Sellés did so well with the team this week that we smash Chelsea and get Potter sacked… …and then we appoint Potter.
Gallardo was the risk to take before the World Cup break, but Rasmus in his wisdom picked the other risk. I don’t think they’ll take the chance with someone like him at this point.
