Eddie , Look how good our side was that day. Man for Man better than chelsea at that time.

Trouble is no-one from our current side would get in their team at the moment.

If only we had Parkes , clement , gillard, francis, Thomas and Bowles playing on Sunday in their Prime. We would give them a proper game.

When Hollins joined from Chelsea the year after I think it was, and was Sub, and Micky Leach was playing then it was the greatest team the world has ever seen!

But on second thoughts, when I remember how much quicker the game is today, probably in fact today's team is probably the best we have ever had! The 75/76 team probably wouldn't stand a chance in some time warped game against out team that played Spurs Saturday!

Was at this one, as a 13 year old. Looking at those team sheets, Scum did well to hold us to 3, we are so much stronger than them. And these players would be fine today, given the same fitness levels. Webb, McLintock, Masson, Francis and Bowles all had better 'football brains' than anyone in our squad now. Diakite or Faurlin for Beck maybe, otherwise I'd have the 74 - 76 team any day. Gillard and Taiwo actually quite similar players - big awkward buggers. Gilly more solid at the back, used to rumble up to half way and launch forward diagonally to Thomas, so Taiwo offers a bit more going forward. They are probably the about the same age though......

I think there is more than just fitness levels SB. The skills players show today are performed far more quickly than they were 35 years ago.

Agreed, but the same players given the same training and experience as today's players ( ie born a couple of decades later) would still be better, in my view. Although Stan probably wouldn't be playing at all, too much like hard work.

I take your point. Perhaps Adel is Stanley, Diakite is Gerry, Cisse maybe Givens one day, Clint is Webbie no problem!, Onouha is Clement, Barton is Leach, Ferdinand is Mac, Mackie is DaveT, Buz is Masson, but Derry is Derry, and BZ is BZ as I can't think of anyone close!

I was at that game, the kick-off was delayed while the police and stewards moved a section of the fans away from one of the floodlight pylons because of the high wind. I'd gone with the wife's uncle who was a Chelsea fan, he went to the loo at half-time and never came back as we were pissing all over them, we won in a canter...<laugh>

I was there as well. If i remember rightly they played down wind in the first half and it was only the brilliance of Parksey in goal that kept us in the game. 2nd half was a breeze, don't think chelsea got out of their half!!!

Also we wore our red & white half shirts that game, almost the same as this week.

Keep the faith we're on for 3 points

did they carry the coffin to the bridge that day? I've seen pics where hundreds of fans used to walk from loftus rd behind it. really crazy to look at it. anyone know the history behind that, how it started? when it stopped etc?
