... I think Bolton have a very tough game and they will know that they have to win to secure the spot (which brings its' own pressure ... however, of more concern is our run of form and that we haven't won a league game at the City Ground during the lifetimes of many of the posters on our board!
I would love it to happen. For all that it would be Leicester V Hull in the play offs For all our **** form and their lead over us we would be back level
It could happen - I just don't want us to go out like a damp squib ... Forest need to win to, so it has to be a 'go for it' game ... Hull's game against Cardiff is difficult to predict ... teams that have already won a title are prone to taking it easy in games after that ... alternatively all the pressure is on Hull and if Cardiff are up for the game, with no pressure, it could go either way ... but everyone is assuming that Watford will win - which is by no means a foregone conclusion.
I dont go with all that superstition crap that because a team have not one at a certain ground in X amount of years it mean it will be unlikely they will do so this time around. Its just another game....another very big game!
... like it or not there are 'bogey' grounds and teams - just seems to happen - e.g us at Peterborough (defies logic) ... I'm not superstitious either ... and a great believer that 'records' can always be broken ...
I agree with bogey grounds, not with superstitions like the Manager of the Month curse. When I used to play as a kid we could never beat Woodgate but would always beat Beaumont. Beaumont had some very good players in their team and yet we'd always beat them, i'd go into the game knowing we had a good record against them and that'd give me the confidence to do well. I think that would be the same at Pro level, not sure.
Can that please happen!! I'm at uni here and have had to endure months of torture from Premier League supporting flatmates to the general Hull public!
I knew it'd come down to the friggin last day, away at the fvcking florists, as soon as I saw the fixtures for this season! I've not had a drink for 6 years but will be pissed before noon on Saturday. Then whatever happens, I'll see it through a comfortable drunken haze! Ian Stringer: They'll keep fighting... and they'll WIN! (apologies to (and for!) Starship Troopers)
We're definitely due a win at the City Ground. Our record there is stupidly bad. Even when they've been miles below us in the league we've struggled there and they've been lucky to get anything in some of our recent encounters. Would be just like us after all the crappy results to achieve something we haven't managed in around 40 years...but it would be just like us if that still wasn't enough. Still, exorcising the Forest hoodoo would at least help us psychologically in future seasons!
The manager of the month "curse" is actually explainable though if you think about what MOTM is for. You generally win it because your team has performed beyond expectations over the course of a month. It's inevitable that at some point you're going to have your performances return to the natural level of the team or have games where you underperform, and after a month of over performing it's likely to be sooner rather than later. I used to have a betting system where as soon as SSN's prematch stats in the ticker at the bottom of the screen said a club had set a new record for winning I'd bet on them to lose the next game. The odds were incredible (especially if they were playing a team who'd been in poor form), obviously they didn't always come in, but I made a lot of money out of playing the law of averages effect on performances. (The large amount is relative to the stakes I was having to put in)
