Am I the only one who thinks he's a f--king idiots for dropping Rio in place of Terry? A ball hasn't been kicked yet, and he's already doing stupid things.

No, Terry is the better defender these days IMO and Ferdinand is not the player he once was.

Terry is the better defender these days? what games have you been watching. Ferdinand is a much better defender than Terry is.

I wouldn't have either but that's just me. Ferdinand is injured every other game so I'd not include him for that reason alone. Throw in the fact his form has suffered dramatically and I'm surprised anyone would consider him. I'd not include Terry in any team. Ever.

No inclusion of Richards again. What has that guy done?!

Disagree, I think Evans has been by FAR Uniteds best defender this season. The few games Rio has played he has been poor.

Lets face it, other than the odd good player, Roy has got an unenviable task in creating a world beating side whoever he picks. That said, anything can happen in a short knockout tournament....remember when Greece won it?

Shame Wilshere and/or Scholes wont play. England need a quality playmaker.

Should have taken Richards and I'm not convinced Downing deserves to be there.

    I wouldn't have taken either.

Rio is unfortunately too injury prone now. His age has caught up with him and he struggles to play 2 games in a row. Terry is just a **** who also is not the player he used to be.

Agreed that Downing shouldn't be there.

Terry is England's best defender - even though he had a mare recently. Ferdinand, according to Fergie, cannot play that many games in a short space of time.

As much as I despise Terry he's better than Jones, Jagielka and Lescott !

A totally unimaginative team selection from Hodgson, meat and 2 veg. No surprises at all, dead squad, but, I guess he didn't have much choice, damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Dunno how Downing got in there in front of Sturridge, WTF ??

Terry? Best defender currently? Look at the number of major mistakes Terry has made this year...

I'd rather have Evans than Terry. Plus Terry is hardly goinf to be respected by many of the squad for his alleged comments. He shouldn't be anywhere near the Squad based on the fact that it could cause disharmony, let alone on current form.

this season, overall, terry has been better. he's had his dodgy moments but been alright. ferdinand has had a lot more dodgy moments, including having his place taken by jonny evans, even when he was fit. i would have taken someone else instead of either of them, but who? jagielka has also had a mediocre season, and not many other top english CBs about anymore...

That team is shocking and won't and can't win the Euro's.

I think that Roy has got some of the major decisions wrong already, i.e:

    - Downing over A Johnson. Downing has been TERRIBLE this season
    - Glen Johnson over Micah Richards. Richards won the league with City and played 3/4 of the season. How is Johnson a better choice?!
    - Andy Carroll over Peter Crouch or Grant Holt

And I also don't agree with taking Terry because a) he's a terrible role model b) his form has been awful in the last few games, anyone see the Liverpool match?

I just can't believe we're relying on half the Liverpool squad to win us this championship.

Definitely agree. Firstly in anyother job if you've been charged with racial abuse you get suspended immediately until the court have made a decision. It was a ridiculous decision from the judge to allow the trial to be heard after the Euros but even more ridiculous from Terry to ask for the delay in the first place.

Footballing wise, as much as Carroll has (somehow) managed to play his way into the squad late on, Terry for me played his way out of it by looking all at sea in recent games and showing such a lack of discipline. I'd have gone with Rio all day long, definitely not both or just Terry.

Agreed, on paper, can you honestly see this team beating Spain? On paper can this team even really beat the Germans and the Dutch as well?

There definitely seems to be a Liverpool bias going on here. Downing, Glen Johnson, Carroll and possibly Henderson.... I wonder why. They've been trash.

Hang on Arsenal87, you posted your views on international football and proclaimed that it was a nonentity, so why are you bothered about the team?. Lets give Hodgson a break, he has almost nothing to work with and we have absolutely no chance of winning a game let alone the comp. So why not let him do his best and see what happens.

At the very least it's nice to have an eloquent chap in charge of England. Hopefully he'll bring a touch of class back to the national squad.

First FA bottled it by choosing Hodgson over Harry, now Hodgson has bottled it, by choosing Terry over Ferdinand. Team spirit was the only hope for this England squad.

Nothing wrong with choosing Terry over Ferdinand. Ferdinand is getting old and in the words of his manager he's not fit enough to play 2 games in a row at the tournament. He's also played very little this season and so its uncertain how good he will be.
