Who was Roy there to see? Lallana played amazing, Clyne was superb.... and SRL got a goal.... He must have come away well impressed with them! COYR !
I should imagine he went to the game to watch Johnson, Downing, Gerrard, Sturridge, Shelvey and Wisdom. But hopefully came away realising that he should pay more attention to Shaw, Clyne, Cork, Lallana, Lambert and Rodriguez.
Think the nerves got to Lambert, his worst game for ages, the goal aside. Shame for him with Hodgson watching. All the others did themselves no harm at all though.
Unfortunately the only player that has a shot in the near future is Lallana. Shaw will find his way in there in the next couple years and Clyne and Rodriguez have got a shot if they continue to improve in the future. The laughable thing is that Rickie is the most deserving and yet is probably the lowest in that pecking order.
There were two English RB's on show today. Roy could have only been impressed by one of them. And super-impressed at that.
Hopefully an English manager will realise that Glen Johnson can't defend! Clyne on the other hand makes a cracking tackle!
We're you actually at the game today? If so, was the sun in your eyes?! Ricky had a great game. His movement caused the Liverpool defence all sorts of problems and opened up space for our midfielders to attack. Also his link up play, particularly with Lallana in the first half was superb and to top it off he prob gave Skirtel one of his toughest games this season! Oh yeah, and another goal-not bad for someone who froze eh?!
Agreed. I'm amazed that anyone would say that about Lambert. As I said on the match thread, along with Gaston he was my man of the first half. He had a great game. And even if someone disagrees with that, I fail to see how ANYONE can think he was worse today than against QPR or Norwich.
No I wasn't there so maybe I didn't see the off the ball work, but his touch was not its usual self today, you don't need to be at the ground to see that.
Lambert had a one on one with the goalkeeper and hesitated because he believed he was off side..that wouldn't have happened last season. He does need an injection of confidence as his body language isn't great. Glad he got his goal...he deserves it for all the other stuff he does. Holds up the ball, draws others to him, and gives us a physical presence. Mauricio plays him all the time so he must like what he sees.
Oh yeah, even on an off day he is unquestionably a very useful player to have. But it was an off day by his standards.
Totally forgot Srurridge was playing until the ball flew in off his arse, Shaw had him as quiet as a little lamb. Johnson never got the chance to get forward and we all know that is 80% of his game, Gerrard was totally dominated by Morgan and Cork. Hodgson must be worried that 25% of his first team came a very poor second best today.
If you weren't there how can you comment on how any player played with any kind of authority. I don't think any Saints player had a poor game. Hodgson would not have been impressed with any of Liverpools players
A bit early perhaps to say, but the player of the season is going to be hard to pick. Young player is obvious, but Shaw could even be in the running for the senior POS.
