Am I the only one thinking our CBs when they are drawn out wide, should be hitting the ball into Row Z more often?
Today, Yoshida swivels to hit a left footed pass down the line. It goes about 10 yards to an opponent, who whips it into the box to win the corner that lead to their equaliser.
A similar thing happened against Vitesse, first leg, leading to our keeper needing to make a smart save.
Keeping possession is good, but if the clearance isn't good enough, we end up with a disorganised back line

Spot on.

I think this is a football wide thing then just us. I don't see many cb's just smacking it in the stand any more.

It's one of the thngs I like about Gardos.

Amything risky at all and he thumps it out. Every time.

I like Florin Gardos. I reckon he's an alright CB. He's had more good games than iffy ones. Played a blinder against Arsenal in the League Cup, and against ManU at OT when he came on for Toby Lovren. And he was bloody unlucky when his clearance hit Obertan [or whoever] for Toon to score last season because for the rest of the game he was pretty good there too.
