Rovers face FGR on Tuesday in a reserve game to allow players who need game time to get game time. I presume Puddy, McChrystal, Balanta, White, Brunt then the rest being 1st/2nd year scholars and 1st year pro's. According to James Mcnamara will might have a trialist taking part too who is Spanish.
damn it. i got it right in the thread. just typed too quick in th title im just keeping the mods busy
11am kick off at the mem and its free entry too. Rovers official twitter saying "Darrell has described it as a strong side" in replying to a question that was "what sort of side will it be?".
I know players that haven't seen action need game time, but surely this match should have been played against a team outside of the conference. Let's be honest it's not going to be long before FGR are playing us at the mem so why give them the opportunity to experience it before then? Ok I know it will be different when the rabble are in but can't but think we are giving them an advantage, even if it's a small one.
Tweets from Official Rovers: "Team: Puddy, Mitchell, Greenslade, Malpas, McChrystal, Munez, Broom, Thomas, Harrison, White and Ward-Baptiste" "Bench: Preston, Lyttle, Lucas" "Angelo Balanta was injured in training yesterday so will not be involved in todays game" "We will be speaking with Darrell after the game to find out how serious his injury is" "Jose Munez is a triallist who has been training with the first team squad. He plays at CB." Rovers was asked if there was any career history on Munez. The reply was "Afraid not - again, will try to find out more after the match" "Ryan Brunt not involved today as DC says Harrison and White need 90 minutes" "DC says that Brunt has asked to go out on loan." Rovers was asked if the Brunts loan request was allowed, rejected or no decision made yet. The reply: "We only managed to grab a word with Darrell. Will endeavour to find out more" "Game has started." "Stewart on the touchline Clarke in the stand" "Forest Green take a 3rd minute lead" "Half time at the Mem and Forest Green still lead 1-0" "Elis harrison came closest to scoring for Rovers but FGR keeper made a superb save" "Second goal for FGR they lead 2-0" "Full time at the Mem. 2-0 win for Forest Green Rovers"
Let's hope this has not demoralised the players. Can't quite understand why Harrison was involved when he's come on in the last few games. Brunt should have been involved but think it's fairly obvious that he is not in Clarkes plans so best we can hope is someone takes him on loan till January then take him perminant lay. Feel sorry for the lad but maybe something has gone on.
