Manager Darrell Clarke has named a squad of 14 for tomorrowâs friendly fixture against Bath City (Twerton Park, kick off 3.00pm). âI wanted our supporters to know the squad in advance,â said the manager this morning as his squad prepared for their final training session at the University of South wales before heading home this afternoon. The game gives an opportunity to some of the first team squad, and the four first year pros, to get more game time. âIt also gives me the chance to run the rule over some the triallists I have included in the squad.â The triallists include Pierce Mitchell, who has been training with the squad since they reported back for pre-season training, and Ryan Higgins, both of whom featured in the games against Cirencester and Cheltenham Town. Two other triallist will be involved. Neal Trotman, who was at Plymouth last season, has been training with the squad for the last two days and he is also in the party to make the short journey to Bath. Dan Thompson, a former Portsmouth scholar, is another player the manager will be taking a look at. Rovers scholars Kieran Preston and Ryan Broom are included in the travelling party. Squad: Kieran Preston, Neil Trotman, Pierce Mitchell, Danny Greenslade, Aaron Ward-Baptiste, Dominic Thomas, Jake Gosling, Ryan Broom, Jamie Lucas, Dan Thompson, Jamie White, Ollie Clarke, Ellis Harrison, Ryan Higgins.
The only one's worth watching in that squad is white and Higgins the others are nothing more than back ups and youth players that we've heard about before and look to be loaned out elsewhere
ww should try 12 on the pitch. we may win then. who knows, we may get away with it too like wycombe does every time!
Don't have a full squad and still using trialist's at this time of year. Becoming a bit of joke. Dam I wish I could be more positive.
Agree with that. I was thinking of going along tomorrow but not sure if I can be bothered, I'll let the weather decide for me.
I'm going...but I'm disappointed there isn't a stronger team...bit of disrespect to Bath. I suppose that DC has already decided that those not featuring are probable first team certs....those appearing tomorrow are scrapping over a few places and the bench. Preston could nail down the second 'keeper spot, Mitchell and Higgins probably head to head for one contract (I'd take Higgins on what I've seen so far). I think Ollie Clarke is in danger of slipping down the pecking order; he needs to regain some form pronto. Jamie Lucas needs to show soon that he can make that final step up to first team contender. One to look out for is Ryan Broom....a really exciting prospect.
Rovers: Preston, Higgins, Greenslade, Thomas, Trotman, Mitchell, Ward-Baptiste, Gosling, Thompson, White, Broom Substitutes: Harrison, Clarke, Lucas
