Statement from Rovers taken from the O/S. Rovers reported to the FA Once again the club has been reported to the Football Association because of pitch incursions by supporters at the away match last Saturday against Wycombe Wanderers. We have been asked to make enquiries into this and Safety Officer, Dave Harper, will therefore be studying CCTV footage and other photographic evidence in an effort to identify offenders. A report will then be submitted to the F.A. who could impose a hefty fine or worse on the club. It is worth re-emphasising that encroachment onto the playing area is a criminal offence and any supporters identified from last Saturday could be subject to a club ban from the start of next season. http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/message-from-the-safety-office-1519637.aspx
Im guessing Wycombe reported us but I could be wrong of course. Would make sense because we risk a points deduction meaning Wycombe could end up being safe. If there is a points deduction then that would be a piss poor decision. There was no trouble at all. Im not having a dig a City here but just using them as an example. What some of the fans did at Wycombe was harmless when compared to what 400-600 City fans did when they invaded the pitch in our derby game this season. They didnt get a points deduction. If we do then I think there will be outrage at Rovers. Plus, they should be consistant with their punishment. At this time of the season, pitch invasions happen. Every team who wins promotion invades the pitch. Wolves invaded the pitch several times during their game before winning promotion and after the game yet they didnt get a points deduction. So I doubt we will but we are Rovers and bad things seems to happen to us so I dont doubt we will be in trouble and risk a points deduction.
No way could you get a points deduction. It's part of football for Christ's sake. I'm sure any fans would have been the same in the circumstances. Apart from that, it's the last thing we would want. Fielding ineligible players is one thing; but rejoicing in victory is what it's all about.
if the fans got on the pitch and charged at your fans then fair enough. at the end of the game the police stood by the 18 yard line allowing a pitch invasion.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4HsxZ3_c5s hopefully its just a fine but like i said before, i wont be surprised if we are made an example of.
There were quite a few pitch invasions -a big one at Rochdale after the final whistle and there will be more. It's probably Wycombe's last throw of the dice.
I certainly don't blame the Chairboys for this. It's quite clear that pitch invasions etc would be included in the ref's report. Also, it's clear that the invasion was a celebration, not a goading, so I suspect we'll get a fine and that will be it. Anything else would be a travesty and probably result in the 'spontaneous' combustion of the FA HQ.
