Bristol Rovers have taken the decision to appeal the red card shown to Jermaine Easter in Saturday's game with Mansfield Town. Easter was shown a straight red card in the 45th minute at the One Call Stadium for allegedly headbutting an opposition player. The club will submit the appeal today and the outcome of the appeal will be known tomorrow afternoon. http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...ter-red-card-2751354.aspx#Ko8vy4HziwHOzTDT.99
So the decicion will be known just a few hours before kick off vs Notts Co. I would plan to start Harrison in his place anyway. If the appeal is won then Easter can go on the bench.
The two Mansfield players who waded actually made contact with Easter. One grabbed Easter, the other pushed him. Easter didn't do anything let alone anything violent. There must be a good chance of this being downgraded.
Unless there is some other video evidence than the match footage, I don't think there is any possibility of a reversal of the decision. The ref couldn't miss what happened.
It didn't look like Easter did much, although you could argue the dive alone was worth a red card it was that blatant.
I haven't seen the incident re the sending off but if what Gastro says is right then the two Mansfield players could face retrospective red cards for raising their hand in anger, I also read that Tom Lockyer was struck and possibly kicked but their manager says in the WDP that a lecture by the ref to both players should have been enough, I haven't read anywhere that Lockyer raised either his hands or used his feet in an aggressive manner
Why was the Mansfield player who pushed Easter in the back just after the card was shown not booked, I thought under the rules that raising your hands to an opponent was a booking/ sending off offence
Its been overturned so he can play tonight but I would have given him two yellows instead, one for the dive and another for the head flick
Seems he got away without receiving a yellow for the dive as it wasn't shown before he got his red card out.
What im really confused about was that the ref was literally 3 yards away from the 'incident' and somehow got the decision so completely wrong. How incompetent is this official? That decision to send Easter off incorrectly, could have cost us that game on another day. Thankfully the rest of the players didn't give up and DC didn't retreat either.
He was Mansfield's captain too. If you look at the second incident, he's right in there too pushing our players. He only got sent off for a second booking after a clumsy challenge.
To be fair the ref only sees it once and there was some movement with his head so I can understand why he gave the red but I can also understand why it was overturned.
The head flick was miles away and hardly aggressive when he'd been seriously man handled. The dive definitely deserved a booking because it was pathetic.
