Swansea are chasing Middlesbrough pair Leroy Lita and Marvin Emnes after admitting defeat in their bid to sign Wayne Routledge.

Brendan Rodgers' premier League rookies had agreed a £1.7million fee with Newcastle for former Tottenham winger Routledge, but the deal failed over his wages.

Rodgers has taken his squad to a training camp to Austria, but has been talking to Championship side Boro about Dutch winger Emnes and former Reading striker Lita

I presume his wages are beyond our self-imposed limit.

He's not a bad player - somewhere between Championship and Prem - but I've always thought he believes he's better than in fact he is

The fact is that our wage structure doesn't even allow us to attract even the lower reaches of Premier League talent like Routledge. The exception to that appears to be Bothroyd and I'm still wondering how we attracted him on a free without breaking the wage cap. This situation is probably more limiting for someone like Warnock than the non-existent transfer budget.

How much does Routledge really think he is worth? If us and Swansea couldnt agree terms he must be asking for £30k a week plus. Off to Leicester then....

Happy to be corrected if wrong here but hasn't routledge not scored in any PL game he's played? I always felt he was a perfect loan signing to cover mackie's injury but we shouldn't sign him permanently. Athough when I thought this I also thought that warnock would be given funds to improve the squad....

I think he is/was on £17k at Newcastle so don't see any reason why Swans couldn't afford him.... We clearly can, but with Dyer already signed, Campbell ready to sign and Mackie back to fitness I can't see Wayne back at W12 anytime soon.

Done a sterling job for us last 6 months of the season, hope he finds a good club.

Always thinks he is better then the club he is at. I heard a rumor he wanted it written into his contract that if ANY team above qpr came in for him at ANY price he would be allowed to leave

what a different world football players live in to the rest of us. Routledge struggles to survive on £17k a week and wants more for basically kicking a round leather ball on a Saturday afternoon an staying fit.
He should try coming to the reak world and try surviving on £20k per year

I would still like to see him back at Loftus Road for the new season.

Bothroyd was on about £10/15,000 a week with us so your top wage of £25,000 is still a big raise for him. Certainly you would get Routledge should Warnock want him.

Routledge is a journeyman and has no attachment to QPR..would anyone consider dropping their wages by half? Hes after the best he can get ,and to be fair he helped us out last season so have no bitterness towards him..I personally think that the vitriol aimed at routledge should be going towards the poor leadership and lack of investment by Bernie and flavio..after all if they offered him a better wage he would have signed.
