Could be. Cole's like a free player and he's had a good season. Still only 30 so a coupla years of good service in him.

It seems Rodgers has figured out what we all know about Aqua: he didn't settle, he likes Italy and he won't want to return.

I think he will take to Rodgers philosophy and adds another level of quality ( if he can fit in which I think he can) to the squad. Think he would link well with Suarez too. As far as Aqua, I wish he would have settled but if he doesn't want to be here, **** right off then.

I wouldn;t mind at the starts of the season ( pending buys) Lucas, Gerrard, and J cole in front of them with him looking to link with Suarez, Carroll, etc.

He's on 90k a week still...he better perform miracles on the pitch to deserve being paid that much.

A good point on the forum on that link is that Cole would still be better than Downing's 0 goals and 0 assists.

Thinking about it id much rather have him than Downing.

Depends who we can get. No point burning our bridges until we see who's available & wants to join us.

This. Not saying throw Downing away yet, he still adds width which we need, but I would probably prefer after both palyers seasons Cole in the line-up than him.

Also JJ/SM , ya he might be on that 90 K but if he helps us improve on the pitch then so be it. I think he could give us more creativity in the midfield and at the moment we desperately need a bit more of that.

I would still like to see Cole in the squad though for sure. It looks much better bringing him on instead of say Adam when we need more of an attacking threat. I think Maxi will move out and Kuyt already has so that has left room for him to come back and for a new signing/Raheem getting more looks.

Yeah i'm changing my mind to letting him have another chance.

I mean he had a good season in France, he's now fit and playing regularly, so lets give him a chance.

If you need creativity we still have ( older) J. Cole, Gerrard, Maxi ( atm), and Bellamy to all provide something new and different and I can't see why these players can't play well together and with Suarez/Carroll, etc.

We shall see, pre-season will be a big indicator for me on where his head is at and what he is looking to do.

Anyone know when our first pre-season game is? In Toronto I think.

if you just park talent as rodgers says hes got that....

    1. the guy has a long history of injury

    2. can you see him chasing round and "pressing" and better than kuyt could have?

for 90k per week i cannot see him delivering enough to justify the wage, not after swanning about france drinking wine and eating cheese for a year while hazard did his running...

i've no issue with him going on the preseason tour and showing what he can do but we need to sell him before aug 31 unless he is showing an awful big improvement.

I would say sell him IF we can find someone better, younger, etc. If we are having trouble doing that ( wages, transfer fee, etc) then it might be best to keep Cole and let him help us out.

We need a lot of pre-season games in order for Rodgers to see some of our fringe players in games.

I want to reiterate that it would be a gamble but it could be one that pays off as he does have the prem experience and does have creativity that we do lack at times going forward. If he shows he wants to be here and wants to work hard to play then I think we should keep him.

and if he spends half the year on the treatment table?

I think an entire preseason will give Rodgers more than enough time on the training gorund to suss out guys attitudes. he wants a pressing game and by extension hard work. i am willing to bet aqulani won't suit that and cole hasn't got the legs to last

I can't see Cole making an impact for us if he does return. Can't we sell him to his French club?

Problem with that is ifs and buts. How often was he injured in France this year? Sometimes you have to gamble, look at Demba Ba for that. Also if he needs the rest, then we can switch him on and off with bellamy who we know can;t play multiple games in a row. I don't think he would be in the team every single week but he can definetely come in and do a job for a game rest a few come in again. We shall see though.

the point that if maxi and kuyt goes he would have some space in the squad to hold him.... i'd only hold him though.. not aquilani.
