Compared to anywhere in Sunderland, the Jesmond and Gosforth areas of Newcastle are pretty much down at heel, and there is a sink estate called Darras Hall on the outskirts of Newcastle near Ponteland airport. Of course it is all relative mind!

I dunno, I wouldn't venture in there unless I was armed!

Got to be Cowgate for me. Drove through there once and people were throwing things at my ****ing car. Ridiculous.

I've lived all over Newcastle, the roughest area I've come across is probably Walker or Elswick. Benwell used to be bad but now it's more foreign folk living there and they're generally better behaved. Scotswood used to be really bad but now it's just a field. Byker is fine, there's not as much bother there as there used to be. Cowgate is not a particularly nice place but it's really small and is surrounded by ok areas. Kenton/Fawdon is a bit ropey but nowt really bad goes down there. Encountered a bit of bother in Throckley and Lemington but it's usually fairly safe. You'll encounter nobs pretty much everywhere in Newcastle, the city centre probably contains the most bellends as they have to head in to spraff tabs, sign on and get pissed.

Last time I heard you could buy a house in Cowgate for about 20K. However, that doesn't include the cost of electrified fencing and machine-gun emplacements.

Cowgate used to be a decent enough area, the council must shoulder some of the blame if they've let it become as run down as some people are saying.

**** knows, the car managed to escape with only a couple of minor paint scratches and tiny dents. Was fearing the worst before I got out and looked because I was named driver on my Dad's insurance at the time and thought I was going to get bollocked <laugh>
