Okay, while logged on lets get a bit of debate on the go perhaps - or as and when - whatever! First off, it's £12 a pop for adults - get along if you can! Surely out last chance salloon of salvaging the season (alright I know it's incredibly unlikely - in the realms of 1-3% however I guess until it's over it's not over ) so lets try and close the gap to 7 with 19 to play. Holy smoke that is laughable - best case scenario, with 19 to play (8 with goal difference) off safety. I saw us v Accrington and bar Downes, first half we were absolutely abysmal as a unit. Sure, some on the deck passing etc but with zero penetration / pace / in areas to trouble Accrington. Our first shot was on 43 mins from memory, an effort from Sears. Just a mundane dull first half. Second half was collectively a lot better / at least winning some battles etc but yes - Bishop star man of the second half. Dozzell needs a loan, Nolan must do better and jesus wept what has happened to Edwards.............. poor poor poor. Nothing stuck off Jackson - god we are pants in the #9 role. Especially if playing just one out and out CF. Team I think Lambert may pick, MIGHT make sense - Gerken Spence ( did fine v Acc bar free kick / Chambers ( will come back ) Pennington / Elder ( not a bad debut to be fair ) Downes has to play / Chalobah I think warrants a recall after a rest and Bishop was lightyears ahead of Nolan/Dozzell Lankester ( how the hell he was an unused sub beyond me / Sears ( not his best and his finishing christ alive ) CF - literally pick any of Jackson/Harrison/Keane/Roberts - literally lucky dip do whatever in gods name you want. I saw 20 mins recently of Rotherham at Bristol City, and until Rotherham went down to 9 they looked a very capable away side....... had a bit of pace on the break and one lad ( name escapes me ) I think could cause us a lot of bother. Looks 1-1. I cannot see us scoring more than 1 at present ( sounds negative but cannot ) and clean sheet ---- REALLY!?!? Are we capable of that!?!? Hoping for 2-0 thought. C O Y B
Just playing out the rest of the season now. This should be a vital game but it’s the first of 20 dead rubbers.
According to lambert, we are expecting 2 signings early next week. If 1 of them is pilkington, he goes straight into the 1st 11. I’ll be there and I think we might actually win this one. 3-1 town. Not sure why I’m hopeful of a win
It's very difficult to avoid expecting the worst to soften the blow of more disappointment. My realistic expectation is a decent half followed by defensive collapse yet again. Go on Town prove us all wrong!
The main reason I'm quite upbeat is sequences - we've L L L L. I'd be horrified if it's another loss.
Fairly entertaining 2-2 draw, is my prediction. Anything less than a win would be terrible, and, if other results continue to go against us, we could be even further from safety. Will be interesting to see if we can get another couple of additions through the door in time.
We desperately need to arrest the decline with a win in this one or we may be heading toward a scenario where we are nowhere near the top in League One next season ( or worse ).
We certainly won't win league 1. I would safely predict we'll come 4 - 11 next season right now. Somewhere around there. 4 the ceiling, 11 the lowest possible. Just my thoughts anyway.
In and around the play offs, I'd say at this moment in time. It depends who's owning the club and how far we would need to cut our wage bill. It would also be interesting to see if anybody leaves for Championship football in the event of relegation. I get a horrible feeling we'll be more like a Sheffield United and spend a few years in the third division.
How can anyone predict next season???... For starters we'll have a completely different team and squad, as well as not knowing who else will be in that division (this is assuming we actually get relegated ;-))
I'll be there again this Saturday.. Bought my ticket ages ago and thought I'd go for the "Luxurious" padded seats in Section Y of the Britannia rather than the Lower North... and for £12, rather than the usual £45 I thought if I have to sit through 90 minutes I might as well do so in comfort, whilst in surroundings that may themselves be of interest and distraction as I'm a couple of rows above the directors box. I'm expecting a response and a similar line up to that of Millwall. Hopefully Skuse will be back and Huws gets some minutes off the bench.. Can see an entertaining (though very low on quality) 2-2 draw and we throw away a lead late on again.
Will be interesting to see how many of the new faces start the game. I reckon Kenlock will keep his place on the left, but i reckon Keane will start up top with Sears on the right and Edwards on the left. Midfield of Downes, Shalamar with with Dozzer or Bish slightly further forward. Not the team i'd pick, but think thats what he'll go for. I'm confident we'll win (but i said that about Millwall and QPR) 3-1 (Keane x2 Sears)
