There is one thing everyone on here does agree on...MM is very stubborn and always plays it too safe, he plays the percentage game, he is clearly targeting a play-off spot, he probably fancies our chances over two legs against anyone and then who knows what after that!
I think ME would spend some cash IF we went up, how much now that is the multi-million pound question, sure he will want to recoup some of the vast amounts he has paid out on the clowns he previously employed but at the same time a one season visit is not going to get the worldwide coverage of his brand that I am sure he craves.
Just answer the question warky, how is Evans to blame when he has backed Mick by not selling our players for silly money? I am waiting!!
MM is going to whistle the company tune as far as transfer funds being made available, just because he says out loud that he is happy with his squad doesn't mean behind closed doors he is,. As far as the FFP rules go, we this season have tried to stick to the rules but it seems as if most other clubs are ignoring them, I have a sneaky feeling that we may have a couple of additions to the squad tomorrow, MM kinda hinted that they are still looking the other day, that is about as close as MM is going to get to saying they have a deal or two being worked on.
You know as well I do that if we had sold Mings And McGoldrick very little of that cash would have been reinvested. Just the same as when we sold Cresswell and Wickham. Now is the time for Evans to show that he wants promotion... I won't be holding my breath!
So then Hoppers, did Evans back Mick and turn down stupid offers for Didz and Mings or am i just imagining it and it was all some weird dream? Think i best stop posting today, before i get really pist with this BS and upset the new guys and my mate scog!!
We were so damn short of players in the first place that it would have been a stupid thing to do! Just answer me this then Spanish. Where did all the money go from the sale of Cressy and Wickham? It obviously didn't get spent on any new replacements or am I imagining it?
Yes he backed MM by not selling anyone, however eryone knows we need additions, if he can get shot of Taylor someone will come in!
I have faith in the manager, although he ****ed up,in a big way yesterday, the squad is not strong enough as it stands to compete against those that are now above us, some of them are bringing in additions, that is the difference to how we got here and now if we can maintain a realistc shot at auto, play-offs IMO are our realistic aim if we stay as we are!
Lmao, i knew you would have an excuse!! He would have reinvested, maybe not all of it but... Cant be arsed to argue the toss with you, as you always have an excuse to back up any ridiculous statement you come out with and tbh its very tedious!! The long and short of it is, if we continue in the same way as Jan then even the playoffs are just a pipe dream. Mick needs to sort it and sort it quick but knowing the arrogance of the man........
What my post or the point v Wigan......we have done the whole, MM will never blame his players or tactics to death, MM knows he got it wrong yesterday but he will never admit that to the likes of us!
Dont agree and i think that is actually what mick thought but hey, none of us will know, only Mick himself will know!! On to the thread topic, i think we will lose and even said that before yesterdays shambles
Oh and before some of you come on here having a go, i hope im bloody wrong and will be delighted if we win
No problem Spanish. I take your statements with a pinch of salt these days. I remember the incessant arguments we used to have on the old 606, the whole pro-Magilton, anti-Keane debates. We used to wind each other up back in those days. I don't think I 'sit on the fence' though. I've voiced my opinion that McCarthy is doing a fantastic job and that I think we should invest in creative midfielders. I know not everyone agrees with me, that investment is needed, but I think recent form and the small squad debunks that line of thinking. We're doing well in the league, let's add a bit of pace and creativity! Of course this is under the presumption that we haven't contacted players, which I'm pretty sure we have, but it's frustrating to see deficiencies not addressed in the squad. Evans, as the money man, is partly culpable for this. Now I realise I can come across quite critical of Marcus Evans, I'm grateful for the investment and money he's put into this club, but I think the gushing praise from some people is a little over the top. I wrote a lengthy piece of the summer saying he should invest in the squad, otherwise we could risk going backwards. Fortunately, we've managed to do a brilliant job without spending a lot of cash (100k on Sears aside), so I've happily ate my words. If we get promoted and we don't sign anymore players then brilliant. Somehow, I doubt we'll manage that without the new additions.
