Remember when things were looking good under Big Sam and then England came and took him.

JR is not only doing the business for us now but has a great track record in Scotland.

I must admit that I fear losing him if Scotland get a few bad results and sack their manager as happened with England. JR must be the outstanding candidate for the next Scotland manager job.

Anybody know how JR thinks and what his ambitions are.
With us I really think he can take us back into the premier league in 2 or 3 years time and he will make a good job of it once we are there. He could become our ‘Fergie’
With Scotland I don’t know what he could achieve but national team managers don’t usually last very long.

Let’s hope Scotland do ok for the next 10 years and JR enjoys a long successful time with us.

But we are Sunderland, it’s rarely straightforward and just as things are looking up.......

We won't loose him to them. He has a bigger job with us and will be paying him better after a promotion.

We should be in the championship before the job comes up for grabs.

By then, we will be (as said above) a better job than anything the SFA has to offer (with all due respect to Scotland)

Totally agree!! There's no way he'd leave us for the Scotland job.

He's far too young for the part time national job anyway.

It's a dead end job for a bit of a dinosaur.

Fully expect Moyes to be there or there abouts at some point.

Think he’ll be on the list but not top of it. He’s not managed at a top league yet - even the SPL. Think the chap at Aberdeen will be top choice, McInnes (?)

Can’t see why he’d want that at this stage of his career, surely he’s more ambitious than that, I’d like to think he’s the man we’ll have the the helm for at least the next 3 season, we’re crying out for continuity and I don’t see stew or Charlie getting rid of him, neither do we want them to do so.

Mr Ross has made a good start, I would like to think it has exceeded his own expectations and the whole team, from auxiliary staff to players on the field staff surely feel they're riding a wave..

He also appears to be grounded, good humouired and quite canny in the transfer market. I believe it has made a difference to some of our old players, one or two of whom might still surprise us by staying on through the season; perhaps in the hope that they would be in a championship team surging forward towards top flight, they may not want to struggle for first team football elsewhere, or simply change in any form; -and also, they're currently enjoying the winning feeling that has come with Jack Roiss. If we can keep some of our potentially high quality players now it could augur very well indeed for Jack Ross and the rest of Sunderland's season.

The next 2/3 days of the transfer market is quite crucial imho, including potemtially buying an additional striker. Back to topic, I'm not sure being drawn toward the position of the Scottish National Team Manager is a very attractive option, bar the title with its emotive evocations.

In the mean time while we dream richly from the perspective of our recent collapse Mr Ross has made a good start, nothing more nothing less and the greener pastures are still very, very far away.

We can loan and we can get rid of high salary players.

Both still good options for us.

Now hoping Catts will stay though. Him and Oviedo. The other 2 buggers will bugger off hopefully.

Yeah. Just responding to the suggestion Ross ought to buy a striker mate.

Not fussed with catts with the money he's on. Would keep Oviedo.

Didn't read the full thread or the other post Disco.

If we're still in the hunt for one of the strikers already identified by the club then we may still be able to loan now with a clause to buy in January. That's if we're in for someone.
