What's going on here? He's been available for a while now, he's been put on the bench, and when we've had scenario's he excels in, Wenger hasn't called his number. I reckon he should come in for Cazorla for the Citeh game, we need some spark and enthusiasm, just like we did against Soton, and in the 1st half today. Rosicky offers us this.
But it doesn't answer the question. We needed oomph against Southampton, and we brought Gervinho on instead. I fear Wenger's doing what he did with Arshavin, just slowly phasing him out. Only he forgot to do it slowly this time.
Cazorla has been poor for every match since his demolition of Reading. Yet, Wenger is playing him for 90 minutes twice a week. I don't understand it. Credit to the guy's fitness though. When we bought him I said he never gets injured, and even in the Premier League he's keeping that going. Yea the Southampton game was the real surprise for me. That was calling out for Rosicky.
I don't think Caz has been horrible, just sub-par. He's exhausted but maybe Rosicky has been carrying a knock and Wenger didn't want to risk him?
I have no idea I still don't understand why he has played, he looked immense in the 45 mins against Olympiakos and then nothing. No idea what is going on maybe there is a slight knock and wenger just doesn't want to risk it.
Yea, that's what I meant, sub-par = poor for me. That's what I thought about Rosicky, but why name him on the bench if you don't intend to use him?
Lots of mystery in the team selection. By not picking players who are/were valued propositions he is giving the impression to the likes of Caz, Arteta, Ramsey that they have no competition for their places. I'm sure we'd all agree that each of the players on these huge wages should always be fighting for their place in the team, but as human beings and things being relative what would you think if you were Arshavin/Rosickyt?
I absolutely agree. He looked great last season, and for 45mins looked good this. He's been training with the first team for a while now & with so many games coming up he should definitely be involved a lot. Ramsey, Rosicky & Diaby are all needed massively in the next month, even if it's 20mins here and there to see out games. I'd love to see Rosicky, Jack & Diaby as a MF 3 for a game.
There is a worrying tendency - most players that come to Arsenal start brightly and then become worse and worse. Arshavin, Chamakh, Vermaelen, Gervinho, Podolski, Ramsey, Santos, Cazorla. Kocsielny has been regressing lately as well. The only guy who really progressed is Jenkinson, probably because he is living a dream regardless. Rosicky was probably our best midfielder last spring, why he is not playing is beyond me. Cazorla today was absolutely nothing special, just average. Rosicky at his best is way above that.
Podolski started off badly and has only found his form in the last few weeks. Cazorla has had 4 sub-par games since Reading, but it hasn't been awful, and everyone gets into poor form at some point. Vermaelen has looked more solid lately for me. His dip in form lasted a while, but it looks like ending. I'm worried about Arteta regressing though. His form has been dipping in the last month, and today his passing was miles off. We need a DM to allow Arteta to play the role he was in last season. Then put Jack in AM, and Cazorla on the wing.
Exactly I think it's lazy to pick random names out and claim that they've regressed and then try and equate it with it being because they've joined Arsenal. If it wasn't written by an Arsenal fan, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was blatant wumming.
I have always said Rosicky will be the main man in the remain games if match fit. he really knows how to take on the opposition and makes other players around him better. As for caz, very good player just need to take the irresponsibility of being the man in the middle. Caz should be taking free kicks and not Walcott etc. But as someoe say our player are not really progressing which is a sign of worry.
Its very disappointing that Wenger is'nt giving Rosicky any time. Its typical of his fear of playing players in there thirties. I expect we will sell him in the Summer(shame though he's still an excellent player)
Rosicky just signed a two year contract extension didn't he? Can't see him being moved on that quickly. He's quality and i'm sure there are reasons he isn't being played. Maybe he still has a little knock from his injury? Maybe he isn't looking sharp in training yet? Maybe we are making sure he is ready for the bigger games comming up? No idea, but i'm sure there are reasons other than "he is over 30 so wenger hates him now". Honestly the sort of things Wenger gets accused of make me laugh. If rosicky is destroying the rest of the guys in training he would be playing regardless of his age. I think we will see much more of him over the remainder of the season.
If Wenger is not going to use him, why does he keep wasting a place on the bench by taking Rosicky as part of the squad?
