Was fantastic yesterday. While Ramsey had a decent second half, Rosicky was class all game for me - and should have got MOTM. I'd start him ahead of Ramsey at the moment with Arteta & Song.

I thought he was excellent too actually (powder puff shots aside). Hopefully he'll be able to maintain this level of performance long term. The pass he used to slip Walcott free in the first half (which was sliced high and wide) was beautiful! I also liked his reaction to being slammed to the ground by Dunne where he just shrugged and got up.

*seriously don't know how Dunne stayed on the pitch. McLeish didn't b*tch about that though did he?

He had a good game but he wasn't fantastic. From what he used to be to what he is now, not quite the same level. He still is very goal shy and his shots of recent are very poor. The same thing with Ramsey, his shooting seems well off. They really need to step it up as RVP is being put under too much pressure to score all the time. Other players need to stand up and be counted.

Ha ha, just had a conversation at work with another Gooner about who has the wettest shots in the Arsenal team and we'd narrowed it down to these two! The chance Rosicky had when Cuellar spooned his clearence straight too him was very poor considering he's a professional footballer. Still think he was one of our better players on the night.

Rosicky is a top CM, I don't care what anyone says, he runs midfields.

His shooting has sadly deteriorated alarmingly :(

I'd actually probably start him ahead of arteta instead. Arteta is a good player, but not an outstanding player, he is comfortable without offering anything special and he is so static, even fabregas wasn't as static as arteta and rosicky can run with the ball aswell and cause defenses problems. I'd start him ahead of arteta until wilshere gets back because then we would have a more mobile midfield and we would have someone who can commit defenders and slide balls through for the wingers and link up with rvp. I really hope that wenger gives rosicky a proper chance and doesnt just throw arteta back into the starting eleven because now that sagna is back the team will improve again, we now have three games that we really should win and i'm praying that we will ahead of the champions league clash with ac milan.

Arteta is a better all round player than the now Rosicky. Arteta is a stronger and better defensive midfielder who gets into good positions and breaks up play really well. This creates a better balance in our midfield for players like Song and Ramsey to go forward. Rosicky may go forward more but i can't remember the last time he scored a goal or bossed a game in midfield. Also, Arteta has a better shot on him and provides more options in set pieces and corners.....

I'd have Rosicky in front of Ramsey, better dribbler of the ball, I'd have him play in front of Song and Arteta.

I agree with you on this, Ramseys performances have been a little up and down. Rosicky seems to have improved from last year and looking more consistent.

Rosicky looks confident and is full of ability. He's performed consistently this season. His defensive work is vastly under-rated. He's one of the best tacklers on the team, this is one of my favourite videos:

Whoever he replaces, in my opinion he should definitely start the next game. He can tackle, he can pass, He can break up play and he can create. Whether in for Arteta as a playmaker, or Ramsey as an attacking mid, he should start.

I agree with a lot of the above. At the moment, I'd start Rosicky ahead of Ramsey (who could also do with a rest). He was superb yesterday.

As for Arteta, I think it shows something that our decent bad form coincided with him being out injured and let us not forget our start of the season bad form was also without him, or when he first arrived. I think he is an all round player, defensively superb, especially the way he fills in for the full back or drops to sit just in front of the centre halves.

At the moment we have a good set of options (when all are available):

    Rosicky / Ramsey
    Arteta / Wilshere
    Song / Frimpong

We desperately need another finisher though, because yesterday, apart from VP, I couldn't see where the goals could come from, including looking at the bench.

I would also start Rosicky ahead of Ramsey in some of our upcoming games, I think it would be good to have a midfield that had both Rosicky and Arteta as that's a lot of experience right there that would do us good. Having said that, we still desperately need a top creative midfielder, we haven't replaced Fabregas yet, we need someone in the middle of the park who can create goals for us as well as giving us a goals.

I tend to agree, but think that Arteta does give us a bit of that though. (3 goals and 2 assists in 1st 17 games - I think - ain't too bad)

2 assists in 17 games is a far cry from being a fabregas replacement, if it was something like 8-10 then maybe, but 2?

There are very few players that can be compared to Cesc though, and I did say a bit. But albeit an unfair comparison but in his 1st 2 seasons in the 1st team with us Cesc got 5 and 7 assists in 33 and 35 games.

Next season will be the time to look at Arteta's stats. It will never be anywhere as good as Cesc's record, but Arteta is also more defensive.

All I want is a creative midfield man who can provide us with 10-15 assists a season, and 10-15 goals, I think that's reasonable.

That is a little high, and not reasonable, I would say. There were only 25 players playing in the premier league last year that scored over 10 goals. Only 2 of them, Rooney and Drogba, had more than 10 assists.

My numbers were just premiership and you may have been referring to all competitions but there arent enough extra games to make the numbers as high as you had. Charlie Adam, Van der Vaart, Nani, N'Zogbia, Dempsey, Fabregas and Malouda were the only midfielders who had over 15 goals+assists last year.

However I think your general point is valid, our midfielders are well down the list this year. BTW for the stats Walcott, Arshavin, Gervinho etc were considered strikers.

A bit of a tangent here but does anyone feel sorry for N'Zogbia? A lot of talent and he's rotting at Villa. I guess there could be stuff going on behind the scenes but it seems a waste of a very useful player.

I really wanted Arsenal to come in for him in the Summer. He seems to have a bit of an attitude issue but is no doubt a very talented player and wouldn't have cost too much. Not sure if he'd have been better than Gervinho but he was definitely worth a punt. Can't see any more wingers coming in now tho, with Theo, Oxo, Gervinho & Miyaichi all looking promising.

Oh aye, by all accounts he's a bit of a knob-head. Not neccessarily saying we should have gone for him but I'd not have complained prior to Gervinho.
