Not sure if this is a racist thread!! Why does Bruce get dragged into this thread Charlie? Ye, I've said often enough Rosy is the best player we have but i cant see him getting in ahead of Elmo. Unless SB goes more defensive away and plays Rosy for his defending.
But we play with 3 CB's now. Liam's a RB, so it's nothing to do with Bruce, unless we switch back to 442 and play Elmo as a winger.
Rosenior just isn't a RWB or a Centre back and while I'm a big fan of his I think as long as we're playing well using this formation and have Elmo fit he'll have to settle for a place on the bench.
I'm sorry Charlie thats just a ridiculous arguement. As i said i think Rosy is a fantastic player and should be in the Premiership but this thread is just set up to knock Alex Bruce. Really poor when we've just witnessed the best display of attacking football in a long time.
It's a really tricky one. Rosie is a fantastic full back - probably the best I have seen play for City (including someone I saw again today). But... if we are playing a 352 system, and it is proving successful... then Elmo just seems a much better fit. You don't sacrifice the entire game plan in favour of one player, especially not a right back (even though he is a very good one).
Not sure How Rosey will take to being a bench warmer. But there's no room for a RB in a back 3. Unless of course they play him on the wing, But then again he's another who can't cross, So....
It is a fair question though. Rosenior has been consistently one of our best players. To choose a formation where you don't play your best players is a little unusual, however well it eventually works out. Maybe we could be totally underestimating Steve Bruce in the tactical department as we were awesome today, but there is always that niggling worry considering what he has done so far that he could be shelving Rosenior like he has Stewart. It's a little unlikely though. I agree about Alex though. Who the three centre backs are is irrelevant. It's the choice to play three that is the talking point.
It's hard to see where Liam fits in right now- SB obviously likes 3 at the back and today it worked very well. I imagine Hobbs will ultimately replace AB in a best 11, but unless something starts going wrong it seems Liam and Daws are bench players at best currently.
I dont see how its fair sorry. If you say Aaron Mclean scored in mid week he should be playing today-thats fair. If you say Aaron Mclean scored in mid week he should be playing instead of Alex Bruce its stupid. Rosy can play LB as well as RB should he have played instead of Dudgeon, he is one of our best players??
I'm not trying to implicate that we should change a winning team, it's just that I was curious as to why Bruce and particulary McShane were picked over Rosenoir.
It probably isn't fair, but Dudgeon was picked for his ability to go forward on the left wing, where he played and not as a left back today. Edit: Think I see your point after a re-read. I still think it was a brave and odd decision, but it worked.
Not really, Rosenoir is better defensive then attackive so should play there, he is on the right side of a line of 3 in defence.
Rosenior will still get games. There'll be times when we're worried about the opposition doubling up on our wing backs and decide to play 442, or he can be brought on later in games to tighten things up when we're comfortable, or just to give Elmo a rest. It's just us having strength in depth, and more than one tactical plan. That said, if I see McShane playing central midfield again we'd better be well ahead so I can see the funny side of it.
Of course it does McShane and Bruce are BOTH centre backs Rosey isn't. Yes I know we have played McShane at RB but that is not his normal position
