"The players here want to do well for the club and do well for Nick, that won't change. I think he was made to be a manager and we can make his job easier by performing for him on the pitch. I want to run that extra mile for him and the rest of the lads want to do that as well.

"I think we have a great chance now of pushing on and doing even better. We know that the foundations are in place to do that."

"I think we have a great chance now of pushing on and doing even better." Is it just me or does anyone else sense a hint of relief in those words that NB has replaced NP?

What I took from that is that he feels NB is likely to push forwards a bit more for more goals, not be the typical drab boring old fart that NP is and be happy to sit on a 0-0 because it's away against a decent side. Go for the win every time!

could not agree more with you. its like a dark cloud has now been lifted from the club. our local media are now much happier it seams.

yes, we have a local lad in charge Who actually knows how to play the game. no wonder the players are buzzing.

To hear that from Rosie is worth a lot. He didn't just roll out the usual stuff, it seemed a personal thing and when a good team on paper puts in maximum effort all over the field, they win games.

I think there is definitely a feeling of relief that NB has been put in charge because the players can carry on as normal to an extent. A new manager coming in from the outside brings in new ideas and inevitably new players. NB was on the coaching staff anyway so will have had an input even when NP was here.

I think it is a sensible move from City and one that means I am no less optimistic about our future than i was 2/3 weeks ago (I think we will do well)

Is it true that Nick Barmby is a cheaper appointment as they could add an extra loop to the initials on Nigel's tracksuit and go from NP to NB :) Might be a bit big for him though....

Seriously I like Rosie - he speaks well.... a future member of the non playing staff? Certainly speaks well enough to be captain IMHO (other opinions are available!)

I agree with the article but this thing about us being defensive is just a myth, and miles off the mark, we have been easily the most attacking away side this season under NP. We go for the win when it seems like a ridiculous thing to do. Look at the teams that come to the KC, even West Ham with their squad didn't dare put more than one player ahead of the ball. Compare that to our last few away games at Brighton, Forest and Barnsley.

Difference is we don't have anyone to put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis! Unfortunately, Leicester do; therefore I can see them start to pick up form as NP will sort their defence out too.

Anyway, enough about them, a striker is still a must in January but I feel good about our season! Lets see what tomorrow brings, big game UTT

Talk is cheap. Rosenior has all the phrases thst fans want to hear, but all of that counts for nothing if it's not backed up by results on the pitch.
People are nervous as is always the case with managerial change. Suggest we all keep oir heads down and do all we can to support NB over the next 5 or 6 games and the see where we are.

Exactly! I am hoping we are going to pleasantly surprised (or relieved) with the appointment of NB

I'd like to see Barmby be decisive and hand the captaincy to Rosenior.

I'd like him to show the man management skills needed to realise that stripping a player of the captaincy mid season when he's not really done anything wrong as captain and is by default a key member of the team is a bad idea in terms of that player's morale and performance, and wait until either the summer or a time when Hobbs is out of the side and a new team captain is needed before appointing his own captain. Obviously if Hobbs were to turn round and say he wants to leave then strip him of it there and then.

Rosenior said at a recent OSC meeting, that he didn't want the captaincy, he thought it would distract him from his normal role.

Though I wouldn't argue that, on paper, he's the best candidate.

Agree. I think Rosenior would make a great captain, but let's not destroy a player in the process.

For now, no reason to change.
