It's just been announced on Radio Newcastle.
I feel sorry for Rose, he's been very missed. He's our only natural fullback (apart from Bardo, wherever he is), although Colback does a half decent job defensively playing there, he offers us nothing offensively like Rose does.

Catts situations becoming increasingly frustrating. It's starting to look like he's gona miss more games than he actually plays now looking at the last few seasons, so what's the point in having him captain? Surely a club captain should be an ever present in the team?

I agree with most, we seem to play better with him in the team, but if he's not injured then he's more than likely suspended. I think it's about time now we spend big on a quality central midfielder in the summer, and if Catts plays more than 75% of the games, then that'll be good, but we won't be constantly bleating on about how much we miss him etc if/when he doesn't .

The club needs to stop rushing him (catts) back. If he needs an operation they should have put him under in January and signed a replacement.

What was Spurs conclusion over Danny Rose?

No idea what was said about Rose. It's a Sad case of affairs that we have to rush Catts back all the time.
Maybes he wouldn't have been as missed if Gards had played in his natural position more this season !

Think all managers play mind games with both fans and the media. MON might name one of them yet giving us fans a big boost possibly raising morale, anticipation and generating a decent atmosphere. Hope so.

This, I can just see the conversation between Catts and Mon at dinner time saturday now.

Mon: How you feeling lee? Obviously we don't want to rush things if you're still feeling pain.

Catts: I'm ready gaffer, let me at 'em Ill show the team what they've missed.

Result: Catts get subbed at half time on a booking and with pain in the knee......again.

Shame about Rose, as for Catts, we can do without him, he's nothing more than a liability, he can't wait till he gets booked, then sent off.

Catts was our best player at the start of the season. Sadly his rep gets him booked more than the fouls he commits. He would pick up a yellow for much less than most! Both of these players are big players for us but we need a settled team. If Rose can shake off whatever issues he has then sign him but there's no point signing a player who will miss half of every season.

Just read that Catts has had an injection to avoid knee surgery. Looks like they'll try and get him playing till the end of the season then have surgery. A damning indictment of our current centre midfielders but sadly that's our current plight.

So I assume it's cortisone or something like that?
Thing is, we feel pain as it's your body's way of telling you something is wrong.
If you can't feel the pain then you may end up doing more damage.
He might end up totally ****ed.

I wouldn't count on it. He faces another 7 weeks out minimum:-
LEE CATTERMOLE has been given an injection to cure the knee injury which has plagued him for the last three months.

But the Sunderland skipper faces several more weeks on the sidelines and could face surgery if it fails to solve a problem which has limited the 24-year-old to just an hour of first-team football since November.

Cattermole made a surprise return to the fold against Arsenal three weeks ago, but was replaced at the interval and has continued to suffer knee pain on the training field.

The midfielder saw a specialist this week and underwent an injection to clear fluid from the joint, which stems from suffering medial ligament damage in November’s stalemate with QPR.

But the results won’t be known for another couple of weeks and, if it fails to have the desired effect, Cattermole will need to look at alternatives after making just 14 appearances this season.

Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill told the Echo: “Lee went to see the specialist, a couple of days ago, who thinks a little injection in there will help. But we won’t know the results of that for a week or two.

“When the injection wears off, he’ll hopefully come back to train relatively normally, but then, obviously, he’ll need to build it up for a week or two after that.

“So I can’t see us seeing him for a few weeks and, if that doesn’t work, we’ll have to look at some alternatives.

“In fairness, we’ve had to learn to play without Lee for most of the season. Through one or way another, he’s missed most of it, right back to getting sent off at MK Dons and then having the injuries.”

On-loan Spurs left-back Danny Rose will also miss tomorrow’s visit of Fulham, although the 22-year-old could be available for the trip to basement boys QPR next Saturday.

“Danny will start back with us next week, so it will probably be another week before he’s right,” said O’Neill.

Meanwhile, O’Neill has told his players to put a run of three successive Premier League defeats – his longest losing streak as Sunderland manager – to the back of their minds tomorrow.

Fulham have endured a similarly inconsistent season to the Black Cats and only moved three points clear of O’Neill’s side last weekend when they triumphed 1-0 at home to 10th-placed Stoke City.

O’Neill added: “We’ve got to put the defeats to the back of our minds and go with the same sort of forcefulness that we showed in the second half against Arsenal and, before that, against West Ham.

“There are similarities with Fulham over the way our two seasons have gone.

“Nothing separated us until they beat Stoke City last weekend.

“Martin Jol was speaking of how important that win was because, for a weekend or two, it will stop them from looking over their shoulders.”

Where did you get this from? Painkilling injections only mask pain and risk making the injury worse. they don't cure anybody. I've had MoN's back from the off but he's really messed up here. I reiterate my previous comment: It's only feb! He's should have sent him for his operation and signed a replacement! Stop start with Catts now till the end of the season and he'll be robbed of a pre-season. MASSIVE BLUNDER!

I'm sure Cattermole returning will solve our goal problems, honestly I dont understand why people want him back in the team, our best performances have been when hes out of the team. I know hes our player and fans defend their players but the fact remains he is not a good footballer and probably wouldnt get in any other Premiership team.
