Was in the van heading from work, and heard a so called Man Utd fan say that the treatment of Wayne Rooney by SAF was disgusting, that him playing out of position was making him look worse, if he was upfront instead of RVP he would get more goals, and that he didn't really rate RVP(think he had had a few Babycham's), I can't agree with any of it,but just want to see your take on who's to blame if anyone or is it just an out of form player or something deeper???

    I heard that.

I do agree with some of it, and that is that if he played up front he'd score as many as RVP because he has, often.

As for the 'treatment', he's a victim of his own versatility and rightly or wrongly Fergie always moves him as the other players aren't as versatile. I can see why he'd get pissed off.

However, it is his job to play where told and so he needs to get on with it. Gets paid quite well really, no need to see his arse because he's not centre forward!

Ergo, the poor form is down to him alone.

And so would Hernandez, if he is pissed off then go talk to the manager, and we all know what would happen there, it's his attitude as well, just doesn't look like he's botherd.

exactly .. tbh people who argue rooney would had scored as much s RVP are based on his past form not the current one .. he is best known to play behind the strikers this is why we bought RVP to make a pair out of them, but his current form is just average tbh
who to blame ? well i feel it is his age .. he is not that young anymore to play behind the strikers and run all over the pitch.. the way he let in the 2 West Hams goals showed a lack of desire

The thing is Rooney doesn't seem to try hard enough. That's been our hole mentality this season. Do just enough to win, and sometimes that's not enough. Certain players have a win at all costs mentality, and that seams to be lacking through out our squad since we pulled away from City in Decemberish. I can only think of 3 players who have that mentality. Vidic, Evra, and Hernandez.

I have been lucky enough to have lived/grown up in the greater Los Angeles area and have witnessed first hand two of the best "winners" of this current sporting generation in David Beckham and Kobe Bryant. I have never seen an athlete or a person want to win as badly as they do. Every athlete wants to win, some want it even more, but there are very few who refuse anything less than Victory.

That's something we don't seem to have enough of anymore. After the amount of comebacks this season I thought it had returned to our team, but over the past few months its been clearly we're still lacking that win a all costs mentality.

I don't think RVPs goal return has been anything special considering the amount of game time he's had, had Rooney been fit all season, and had we not bought RVP I still feel we would be well clear in the league.

Don't forget Rooney scored 26 league goals playing in RVPs position last season, a number RVP is going to struggle to get to this season.

Obviously it's handy to have both, if we get any injury's, but if both are fit, I only feel we need 1 of them

this is why i was not happy to go to RVP deal, i rather we had someone a la Aguero type or Drogba type .. someone with flair or good in air and physical bcz this is what our strikers lacks at the moment .. but i think Sir Alex went for him after losing lucas mora

hhhhh <laugh> he hasn't aerial ability and he is not a striker , but feel Sir Alex was tempted to make a new CR out of him or possibly just to replace Nani
anyway we seem to accelerated RVP deal just after this deal fall apart

Yeh if he wants a contract start putting the graft in on the pitch, show that you are the man for the big occasion like he used to.

You'll meet the tw(a)tfish soon enough!

Then he'll get banned again. Then he'll comeback again. It's a vicious circle really. <ok>

I know you're not him, it's pretty easy to identify him by his writing style.

Tw(a)tfish is his signature insult. No knows what it actually means. Scholars believe the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.
