I think so too, especially with Moyes settling in we don't need an unhappy Rooney in the dressing room and on recent form we and unlike in 2010 we don't rely on him on the pitch anymore either. This is presumably the reason for his drop in form. Time to cash in to a foreign team while his value's still high.
I don't rank Rooney as one of the worlds best players but.. he has more quality than Welbeck and Hernandez, a fair bit more and he has provided for RvP when he played. I think United would be better served developing a strong partnership between Rooney and RvP rather than letting Rooney go. Rooney doesn't play his best when he ain't happy a lot of the time but surely an on form Rooney with RvP would be an effective partnership. The new manager whomever he is will want Rooney to stay I would imagine and would probably take action to convince him to stay, on the other hand, Rooney might be giving the new manager to be some food for thought with regards to the back seat he's taken as it were of late too.
It could go either way. With the change that's occurring anyway I feel the time is right for him to leave also. On the other hand, the new manager might give him fresh motivation and impetus. There are strong rumours on Ronaldo too, and I know it's only rumour, but if it's true then I couldn't see Rooney getting in the side unless of course he tries to move to CM which he doesn't appear to be too keen on. Ronaldo and RVP as the forwards? Not too shabby.
He's an objectionable **** who hasn't warranted a place in the team this year, especially as a central midfielder as his short passing is ****. I've said for a while that Fergie was building a Rooneyless Man United and the last thing Moyes needs is to have to pander to Rooney's ego while he's bedding in at United. I say sell the Scouse twat!
I do too, especially as he now wants to leave again. Just putting out options, I don't agree with you on his personality and ability but I do agree that he's more than welcome to go and find some greener grass. Even though he should be at his peak it will be downhill and we'll have had his best years. I think he should be a great player but at the moment he is seemingly lacking motivation.
SELL SELL SELL He needs to **** off he has spat his dummy out once to much. the announcement of Fergie leaving gives us the chance of a new Era, clear out the dead wood ie: Rooney Anderson, Nani
This. If I was Moyes I'd spend the first few weeks of pre season trying to get Rooney to stop whining and show his best form. If he hasn't managed it by the start of August then he can leave. He's one of those players that can still make great contributions to the team, even when not on form, but we don't need the new boss distracted by one player's personal issues.
Spot on. I've been sick of the sight of him this season to be honest. Most of the games he's looked like he can't even be bothered. The Swansea and West Ham games particularly stick out. I've never really forgiven him for holding the club to ransom a couple of years ago, revealed a lot about his character. Pundits harp on about how selfless he is for the team, but for me, all this has come about because he was dropped against Madrid. His performances have been patchy at best all season, but since then he's just been a passenger. He's been dropped for the biggest game of the season, and has decided to throw another hissy-fit, throw his weight around and wants out. I'm sure if we offered him another £50,000 a week he would suddenly feel he "made a mistake and hopes he can finish his career at the club". Of course that's only until he has another couple of years left on his contract and he wants another payhike. He's not the main man anymore, sell the horrible **** to the biggest bidder. Like Famous said, the last thing Moyes need is dealing with this complete twat and pandering to his every need when he's finding his feet at the club. Good riddance.
I disagree, I think it should be done swiftly over summer as soon as. Get him out, get rid of the distraction, and start looking at those who will be staying and new recruits. We really do not need a Rooney saga during the last days of the window. Let him leave and get fat again over summer as someone else's problem.
I think he would be more than useful to stick around for another season, regardless of whether he plays much.
Possibly, tho' Rooney and the rest of the squad will be off on holiday soon after the end of the season (most seem to be on holiday already), so Moyes will only get to work with them again from the start of July, and only see them in action from mid July. Start of August gives him time to try and work with Rooney and see if he can perform well in pre season, and still leaves a whole month to sell him and get a replacement in. Obviously if other moves for Ronaldo, Lewandoski etc happen before then a decision will have to be made earlier, but I don't see the point in a new manager rushing something like this and selling Rooney offhand without any replacement available, and without making any effort to try and get him playing again.
We should only sell if he really wants to leave. We play better as a team when Rooney plays regardless of whether he's in good form or not. Give him a kick up the arse and see how he's doing in January. Having said that, if he's just trying to get more money again then he can **** off
