Hey guyz first of all unlucky against Chelsea, was a good match and a fair game. Great goal by Ba and I cant believe Cechs save after the Hernandez header. Even though you are 15 points ahead RVP has not been doing very well since December. He has not been as consistent as he was in 2012 and yet Fergie usually picks him ahead of Rooney. This i do not get as I think Rooney is a class player and i believe he is far better than Van Persie. He always wants the ball, he is an intelligent player, strong and fast, and above all a good finisher. Anyone else think Rooney should be getting in ahead of Rvp?

They actually both start when fit, and if they both don't start it's down to squad rotation. With Rooney coming back from a minor injury we'll see both of them start against City.

When on form RVP is a better finisher, but Rooney is a better all round player:biggrin:

RVP is more lethal but Rooney is better all round. His link up play, creativity and work rate are vital to most of what we do. Tho' if Rooney has a major fault it's that he can be lazy off the field and too quick to let good performances and praise go to his head.

In 09/10 he was POTY then was poor at the start of the next season and we had the whole contract saga. He had a fantastic season again last year, so I reckon RVP has been used by SAF at least partly to try and keep Rooney on his toes this year.

Tho' I think Rooney is first choice right now - RVP started against Sunderland, so I reckon the plan was to play Rooney and Hernandez up front as they usually give Chelsea a torrid time at the back. Rooney's injury scuppered that, but I reckon Rooney will be 1st choice again as soon as he's fit.

Rooney for me, as he can do what VanPersie can do and some. But then I'd say Zidane was better than Ronaldo or Messi. It's horses for courses I guess.

Zidane better than Ronaldo and Messi? You don't surely mean that. Zidane was a great player, but Ronaldo and Messi are phenomenal players. 2 of the best players to have ever played the game IMO:biggrin:

Zidan win everything both internationally and in the club level .. he carried France alone, i remember very well we were 3rd or 4th in our WC qualification group without him, then we had to beg him to come out of retirement and everything changed since .. we managed not only to qualify but to be in the world cup final.. that is how good zidan was even when he was old

what did Messi or CR did internationally ? NOTHING

yes Zidan didn't scored lots of goals like those pair, but that is only bcz he was playing more in the mid, football is not only about scoring goals especially if you are not a striker

I don't really think its fair to judge a player on a 1 month tournament once every 4 years.

I rated Zidane alot, he was a great player, but I think over the course of a season Messi or Ronaldo would have more of a contribution to the team than Zidane would!

I know if I was a manager at a top club, and you offered me 1 of them at there peak, I'd choose them in the order of Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane.

I know goals aren't everything, but at the end of the day scoring is the most difficult thing to do on a football pitch, and the most important thing, and the most skilled players genuinely do it the most

agree if it was only one tournament.. but zidan give France WC in 1998, then Euro in 2000, and he was WC 2006 finalist and should had win it if it wasn't for that moment of madness from zidan

in the same time, i understand totally your point regarding goals, at the end football is all about goals .. but would had Messi scored those goals without Xavi and Inesta behind him?

i had same argument with a friend, as I rated Maradona more than messi.. the difference between both is that Maradona is a leader, playmaker, take the ball by himself from the back , and tbh even though him and zidan operate more from behind compared to messi and CR, their goal rate is almost as good as Messi and CR in the international level .. i think both add goals + more to their national teams, something both CR and messi failed to do .. Maradona transformed an average side like napoli and Argentina into champions .. i doubt Messi or CR can do as good
