Both would be unfair. Welbeck more often than not plays from the left and Rooney plays behind the striker. Rooney > Sturridge > Welbeck. Both Rooney an welbeck have some serious competition for their place. Sturridge doesnt have any at all. Welbeck and Rooney offer a lot more than Sturridge. Both are better footballers, Sturridge is a better striker than Welbeck. Rooney is a better striker, better goalscorer, better provider and a better player all round. sturridge doesnt even come close tbh. Though one of your guys thinks Sturridge is better

Player yes, striker no. RvP is our best striker, Rooney our second best, Hernandez our 3rd and Welbeck our 4th. I'd put Sturridge as a striker, 4th ahead of Welbeck if he was at United.

I just told you my opinion of Rooney compared to RVP and Rooney is a better player than Sturridge, but you're comparing players with differing experience and total games in the prem, one is in his prime and the other has scope to get better.
Sturridge will become just another PL player. Funny how there are actually people who think otherwise. Like Welbeck he'll never reach the heights of the top class players. He'll have his moments of course but thats all they will be, moments in the grand scheme of things. The last time he had competition he looked average and it was hardly world class competition.

Rooney is a better striker and player than Sturridge. End of debate. However, comparing Sturridge and Rooney is a tad unfair to Sturridge. Rooney and Van Persie (who is also a better striker and player than Sturridge) are at their peak as players -- they are 28 and 30, respectively. Comparing Sturridge (24) with Chicarito (25) and Welbeck (23) is much more realistic. In my opinion, Sturridge wins those comparisons. Chicarito's leage goal tally -- the only real metric for strikers, after all --- peaked in 2011/2012 with 13; whereas Sturridge currently has 11 and will surely eclipse that target. Therefore he is a better striker. Welbeck's best tally was previously 9 goals (11/12, as well) and he's currently on 8. Sturridge is better than both his contemporaries. You could argue Chicarito and Welbeck are better players (not strikers), but that would be highly subjective. IMO, Striker (not player) rankings: RVP>Rooney (goal tally alone!)>Sturridge>Chicarito>Welbeck. Sturridge has great potential, but he's no Rooney. Perhaps in time. We'll see
