Probly not. Doubt we'll get out of the group stage now...shades of 2000...

Even if they do take him, and make it through to the quarter finals, would it be right to select him from then onwards? Especially if England win comfortably...

Bit hopeful, I know but you never know!

England should take him, will probably go out in the group stages and Rooney would miss the beginning of pre-season.

This could be Sturrige's chance to shine.

I've a feeling he won't go. Give the likes of Sturridge and Welbeck a chance.

I hope they don't bother taking him as this will benefit United.

He deserves a ban. Really no point in going to the tournament now.

perhaps rooney thought he was playing for utd while kicking at opponent..

now you see why England will not win anything - utd is bigger than england init?

I don't think he was thinking at all. That's the problem.

Capello will select him, I'm pretty certain of that. If England don't get past the group stages then they have much bigger problems than one banned player, whether you have 11 or 12 subs sitting on the bench doesn't really make much of a difference, and if they do then Rooney is a pretty great option to have. I wouldn't mind one bit if he was left out though. Playing for England is a waste of time.

    Put it this way:

leave Rooney out = you have one more painfully mediocre squad player on the bench who won't kick a ball all tournament
take Rooney = if the other players can get you past the group stages then you have a world-class striker as an option

I know which one I'd take

The Euro's are arguably harder to get out of the group stages than the world cup where you can end up with a couple of pish teams in your group. What I want to know is what is Rooney's problem? We can't blame it on his age anymore, I mean he's a Dad now for christ sake. So I would have to say that although Rooney is clearly a very good player and has a footballing brain his other brain(the one we use daily) has clearly malfunctioned. I say don't take him and let players who actually take pride in wearing the shirt have a go. Rooney's only takes pride in playing for United, no problem with that but Capello please don't let him anywhere near the England team.
