I don't know if we've had a thread like this before. I just came across it whilst trawling the Boards.

I'm assuming that everyone knows the formula of this long running TV programme, which can be quite entertaining.

    So,thinking caps on.

    What,or who, really irks you?

What,or who, would The World be better off without?

Let's fill Room 101 with as much dross as possible.

(It will make a change from all the managerial speculation that has taken over the Board)

I have never watched it at all. But what really irks me are ****philes, druggies, thieves and the fact they don't get long enough prison sentences when caught, or get their bits cut off to stop them in future.

Good opener there, valley, and I don't think you will get many detractors.

I would like to place the following in Room 101.

    1)The unelected royals.

    2) All religions.

    3) Tories.

I'll be back with more later. Hope this thread takes off.

    1) they bring more into the country than they cost, they have no political powers

    2) religions have always been the biggest killers in the world , and responsible for most wars

    3) Tories are responsible for the coal miners strikes and for selling off the national assets of the UK.

Have to agree with valleyswan along with drug barons/dealers, they are the scurge of our society bringing misery to individuals and families alike. Many crimes in this country can be related back to drugs and if only we could permanently remove the people that make money from supplying them it would be a much happier place. Some countries have a no tolerance ethic towards dealers with the death penalty or life imprisonment sentences imposed, it is a great deterrant and I'm sure I'm not alone in being dumbfounded that we give such minimal jail terms when we actually convict these criminals.

"1) they bring more into the country than they cost, they have no political powers."

Well, you only have the word of royal sychophants, and other vested interests for that. They are an archaic, unelected group, and are well past their sell by date.

They may well have no official "political powers",but to suggest that they don't exert any influence is,I think, rather naive.

what would you prefer Robert Mugabe , we all moan but we are lucky to have what we've got .The nearest we've been to a President was Blair & we're all paying the price for his reign both in lives being lost in wars and financially
.I'm afraid this country's biggest earner is tourism and like it or not that brings in more than what the royals take from us

It's not a choice between Mugabe and the royals. You are clearly looking in the wrong direction here.
Down the centuries the royals have been as guilty as Mugabe when it comes to abusing the people who had the misfortune to live under their rule/reign.
    So, bad example.
Mugabe is a dictator, and has complete control over everything.
The royals no longer have that luxury, but I'm sure they would very much like to.
The constitution ,such as it is,keeps them in check.
Mugabe,on the other hand, like most African dictators, amends the constitution of his country to suit his needs.
Having lived in a West African country I can confirm that is what happens.
As for Blair, well,at least we could vote him out every four years,or so.
The fact that he survived for so long is hardly his fault.
Remind me,when did you,or anyone else, get to vote on the royals remaining in their ivory towers?
Are you suggesting that the only reason tourists come here is to gawp at the royal rabble?
Clearly some do,but no-one has any proven figures to make such a case.
The interested parties, and there are many of them, are the ones who constantly push that argument.

It's Room 101 for them, and at the double.

I'm with you on most of your main list bonymaen, but I have no real problem with male wig wearers, and don't know your PT Instuctor, but I guess you had good reasons to want to banish him,so that's good enough.

The Royal family at least give us some sort of stability. Much as they are controlled by the constitution, so the Government, to a degree, is reigned in by the presence of the Monarchy. Can you imagine what an ego maniac like Blair would have got up to left to his own devices?

I don't have enough space to name my 101 inmates. I will list some for now and be back later.

Bankers. Solicitors. Politicians. Trade Union big wigs. Drug dealers. Bullies. Bent coppers (and there's a lot of them. Liars. Thieves. Incompetent government/local government officials (there's an awful lot of them). Inefficient jobsworths who hide under the umbrella of any corporate company knowing that they can't personally be sued for the repercussions of their bad/wrongful advice/actions.

OK, you're not all going to agree and apologies for duplication:

Our class-ridden society: Having lived overseas, it's liberating not to have it. The honours system is linked to this. 'Sir' Elton John? Give me a break.

Neanderthals: Those with no necks who pose and posture, usually bald and wearing T shirts too tight for them. They strut around as if they own the place. You know the type.

Celebrity Worship: Why do people hang on every word of uneducated, talentless bimbos? Don't get it.

Politicians: Was hopeful for the new regime but broken promises on student tuition and various other things made me realise they're all the bloody same. As the Aussies say, "Never trust a politician". And they're right. I'll never vote again.

Parochialism: This one winds me up a treat. Whether it's your average redneck in the Deep South, Little Englanders or Aber up in his weed-ridden den in the valleys, if you have a narrow view of the world you are all the poorer. Sadly, it's a Welsh trait.

The Royals: Can't say I hate them but Britain needs to come of age as a forward-thinking European country. The Royals are not a reminder of history, they're a reminder of how stuck in the past we are as a nation.

Lazy Police: Lots of them, just looking for an easy life.

Travellers who aren't travellers. Yes Bony, you're right. Parasites the lot of 'em.

Blair & Bush: OK that's two. But they took us into an unnecessary war that's cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of people on all sides. And all on the basis of a lie - that Iraq had WMD. Bastards the pair of them. Subsequent politicians have had to pick up the pieces as best they can, which means carrying on until the job is done, unfortunately.

Organised Religion: I respect those that need this crutch but let's be honest, it's more trouble than it's worth, right? If you have faith, keep it private - it's between you and your god.

    Oh, almost forgot...Cardiff fans <laugh>
