We have lost so many famous names from the world of football and show business recently and today we mourn yet another R.I.P. Ronnie
Agreed KIO and that four candles sketch has to be one of the funniest I (and a great many people have ever seen). I doubt there will ever be another act to get close to the repertoire and skill that they brought to our screens!!!1
He was not just a comedian who had impeccable timing, but he was also an exceptionally gifted actor, as the four candles shows. RIP little genious.
Horrible. Was shocked to come home tonight to see that. He was such a happy man who always seemed to make joy happen around him. Lovely man, so funny. Massive loss.
It is funny that during their partnership I always thought RB was the star and RC was the 'other one'. In recent years seeing him carry on with his monologues, I have come to realise how talened and remarkable he was. Another of the greats has gone, a very sad day indeed.
As Wise was to Morecambe, so Corbett was to Barker, an invaluable half of a great comedy team, in an era of British comedy that will never be bettered. If only they were half as funny today. Think both pairs owed their success to a little fella trying but failing to be funny, with a big fella who was the hilarious straight guy - a recipe for success if you put the right two together. RIP
Just heard on the radio that Ronnie was told just before he died that he was to be given Knighthood. Hit the crossbar there bless him.
Totally agree there RBF and just like the masters Laurel & Hardy before them, they could make your sides split without swearing or being vulgar. I used to love the mini series they did as well, 'The Worm that turned' and my favourite, 'The fantom raspberry blower of old London Town '
Those two are new to me I´m afraid, KIO, don´t forget I´ve been over here for 40 + years now, and although quite a lot of good British entertainment does make the trip safely across the North Sea, some does flounder on the way. I´ll have to browse the internet. Just seen the first 10 minutes of ´The Worm´ - very promising
