Hope so..... Underwhelmed when we signed him on loan if being honest, but boy has he proved me wrong. And a few others on here no doubt.
The money part might be wages. Hopefully he realises that playing football for a decent wage is better than no football and megabucks. That said whatever he gets will be megabucks to us.
Bertrand will be ready to settle...he has been from pillar to post and was annoyed with Chelsea when they blocked a move before by making promises they didn't keep. The problem is will he trust a top three side again Hopefully, he will have noticed how well we allow good players to flourish...and get noticed by the England manager. I know you don't always get to play, but getting in the England squad again is progress. Clyne has been positive about that. Interesting that Koeman points out that training is possible because we aren't in Europe...certainly need squad depth to be able to play during the week.
Sadly our match against Chelsea comes 3 days too early to sign Ryan up and make him eligible to play. I just hope Matt Targett is ready for that one!
Fingers crossed, he's been absolutely brilliant so far. He hascontributed at least as much as Shaw, possibly even more. With games under his belt he will keep improving as well hopefully, as he is still so young himself. Sign. Him. Up.
I'd like to point out I mentioned Bertrand as a good replacement for Shaw while Luke was still playing for us, while many others dismissed him. So feeling a bit smug at the moment. Nobody likes smugness so I do apologize for it, but I couldn't help myself.
Looking at Van Dijk again as well, so it seems more players coming in Jan. I just want to sign Bertrand and Alderweireld permanently.
I think Bertrand may be interested, but not so sure about Toby. He has clearly mentioned on several occasions that he has signed for one year...I think he has put himself in the shop window.
It will be tough with Toby. He's set to impress playing for us this season, which will increase the number of potential suitors. and some of them with high reputation. So he will have options, but hopefully he'll see that staying in Southampton would be the best career move ( or career stay ) for him.
Talking of Toby...
