We must give MON a good 7-8 years to get the balance right. Players like N'Daiye have a lot of potential but we need to give the new lads time to bed in.
Just coz them up the road have decided to hand out an 8 year contract to their manager, does not make it the height of fashion, far from it. If he's here in 8 years time, he's here on merit. Besides he's no spring chicken.
8 years I can only just stomach the 27 odd games this season ,I can promise you 1 thing he won't be here in 8 years and ATM I won't lose any sleep over that either
You know, sometimes I really wonder about Sunderland fans. I've spent nearly 39 years watching SAFC and on the whole have been fed a watery diet of utter ****e and 2nd rate football. I've had to stomach more relegations than I care to think about and even a trip to one of the bargain basements of our league system. I've suffered to watch some of the worst footballers seen on a football pitch in Britain during that time and more than that, some managers that have greyed hairs quicker than Grecian 2000 cures them. Buxton, Butcher, Crosby, McMoneybags, Sgt Wilko, Sbragia, to name but a few. There have been 2 or 3 good ones such as Knighton, Durban and especially Reid and a couple or so average ones that were okay in Adamson, Keane and Bruce. However, this is the first time we have actually employed one with a successful pedigree and track record; the quality and experience at the highest level both as a player and a manager; and one who has the determination to succeed. Above all, he has the genuine love and affection of our club at heart too. He has picked up the mantle of 40 years of nothingness and utter failure at SAFC and is slowly and surely attempting to address that but its not going to happen inside 14 bloody months in reality. Is it? I hope Martin is here for at least another 4 or 5 years and if he is, then maybe we will at last have a club on and off the pitch to match its fans. Early signs are good and after only 2 full transfer windows, the calibre of player he has brought is a good indication of his intent imo. Patience is indeed a virtue but for some fans, it would seem a return to the no hope years is prefered. It won't be Mon that ruins our future, it will be our own thicker than whale **** fans.
He gets the same amount of time as SB for me mate with the Summer transfers (which we need to spend big in) he will have his team in then judge him. Not bothered about the ****e football I'd rather we played ****e and stayed in the PL than played pretty and got relegated see the barcodes and Allardyce for that.
