The Chelsea job should be Roberto Di Matteo's imo, it should of been when they beat Barca over 2 legs however...

The new European champions are chasing the ex-Barcelona boss with an £11million-a-year offer.

He has also been promised there will be no pressure on him to win major trophies in his first two years in charge while he reshapes the club.

But Guardiola has not yet been won over, despite a meeting with Blues officials in Spain on Monday.

He has demanded talks with Abramovich himself, so he can hear the offer from the horse’s mouth.

Abramovich is ready to meet Guardiola, who remains keen on having a year out, and will not take kindly to being snubbed.

A Chelsea source said: “If it takes a big meeting with Abramovich to get the deal done, that’s what must happen.”

It all leaves interim boss Roberto Di Matteo no clearer about his future.

But he is not interested in holding the fort for 12 months while Guardiola enjoys a sabbatical.

Personally think it would be a disgrace if the job is not given to RDM, thoughts?

It won't be the case but it should be.

Chelsea are starting to put together a pretty young exciting squad but it will take a season or two to get rid of the old guard and replace them with more top quality younger stars.

I can see Cech becoming the next captain after Terry, he has just signed a new 4year contract and at the age of 29 he still has a few good season's left in him, as for his understudy in Courtois the lad is fantastic, a couple of more season's onloan and he will be good enough to challenge Cech for the Number 1 jersey.

Defence they have Luiz and Ivanovic both who are fantastic defenders they just need to replace the ageing duo of Terry and Cole.

Midfield they have Mereiles, Mikel, Romeu and the impressive Ramires, if they can replace the injury ruined Essien and Lampard then there midfield will be top quality.

Attacking wise they have Hazard, Marin and Mata 3 fantastic talents not forgetting De Bryne who is out on loan, in a couple of season's he will be competing for a spot in there side and upfront they have Sturridge and Lukaka.

If they bring in the right man and that man is certainly Guardiola there is no reason why Chelsea cannot be up there pushing Man City all the way. Guardiola is the man who will get Chelsea playing attractive football and get them consistantly challenging for all honours. I see they are after Hulk, Falcao, Van Der Wiel and Lucas, 4 players that would offer so much to Chelsea.

If Chelsea are prepared to sacrifice the next 2season's and there aim is the long term and letting Guardiola if he decides to take the job to build a top quality, youthful attacking squad in those two seaon's then they will certainly be a force in football.

As for Di Matteo I like him but Guardiola is streets ahead, you can say Di Matteo has just won the champions league but Avram Grant was a penalty kick away from winning it a couple of season's ago now is he a good manager, would we have him at Sunderland? I certainly wouldn't.
