Just seen this and would be very upset if true! Algerian international Riyad Mahrez could be leaving Leicester just a year after he signed for the club. The former Le Havre winger is being chased by Roma in Italy and La Liga side Villarreal. Leicester boss Nigel Pearson is not keen to let the 23-year-old go, but the Premier League strugglers could do business if they receive a January bid in excess of £3million.
Why would we sell arguably are most creative talent for £3m? ... baubles ... and not of the Xmas variety ... £13m perhaps ... wouldn't get at all concerned about this one m'duck ..
I like the lok of him when you played us, a massive upgrade of Adel to me. You'll find it hard to kep him if one of the big clubs do come in for him so just be happy with getting a couple of decent seasons out of him before he moves on. !! I'd take him in a snap !
He's been ok but certainly not pulling up any trees. Bit of a liability defensively but one of the few players we have that can produce a bit of quality and creativity
Pretty much all of our attacking play has involved him somewhere. He needs to be played somewhere so that he doesn't have to worry about defending, although not sure we can have a luxury player like that when bottom of the league, but £3m is a joke figure when you consider how much more we'd have to pay to replace him.
Hopefully we will have the upper hand on any outgoing deals because they are all under pretty long contracts.
Unfortunately in this day and age mate, that means pretty much nothing. He'll get out if he wants out - simple as. Look at Streling, when w had him we knew he'd be good and were desperately trying to tie him down. We almost did until an agent got in his and his parents ear. After that it was just a matter of time. We sold as we knew we couldnt hold him and the rest is history. Sadly its one rule for the big clubs and another for the rest of us
Even if a player wants out though, the clubs still going to get the best fee it can for a player, Pearsons not against dropping pissy players to the development squad until a decent fee is received.
Do you think that would still hold true with hm and the owners / board if they were talking about millions in the Prem instead of a hundred grand in NPC or League 1?
They will take the best deal they can at the right time, there would be absolutely no rush to 'get rid' after a round of feeble offers. If top clubs are after him, then he will demand a high fee regardless of what division we are in. Look at Jordan Rhodes for the fact that long contracts demands high transfer fees.
