Never thought I would say this - I can’t wait for the WC to start . The tournament played in the middle of the season and in a country like Qatar was not what I wanted . My thoughts have now changed due to the amount of players we are missing at SAFC due to injuries and the hope we can get them back playing after the break should help in this regard . I am not ashamed to say I am a club before country fan though I hope England do well I always want what is best from a SAFC perspective first and foremost .

The greed and corruption was always kept reasonably well hidden by the people who run international football ...

... now they don't even bother to laugh behind our backs, they laugh in our faces.

I only like it now as it gives our players to rest and get over injuries. I'll watch some games but it's not the same this year. Oh yeah, and England are as dull as dishwater to watch.

Didnt want England to qualify for the tournament. Sooner we are knocked out the better for me for 2 reasons. One, cos of the sham of a tournament itself. Two, cos I want Southgate sacked/to resign and see if somebody else can do better with the potential we have. Now mind, if we win it.....

Followed England all over in my younger days and absolutely loved it, been all over Europe watching them. Ive done 2 world cups and 2 euros. The last time I went was when those mental Russians went on the rampage in 2016. I can honestly say in all the years of watching England I rarely seen any trouble but what happened in Marseille that day was a disgrace, England fans were hung out to dry by the French police who stood back and let it happen. If you are looking for it then you deserve it in my opinion but some people were attacked and badly beaten just for being an England fan. That was my last England game abroad and I have no intention of travelling again. As for this world cup I will watch it but not with the same passion as previous years, theres been a lot of virtue signalling by our footballing stars this last few years which will go out the window for 4 weeks in Qatar. Lineker, Neville & Beckham should be ashamed of themselves plus many more.

    Great Post.

My favourite wc Was France 1998, I was 14 going in 15 during the summer and getting bang into football. That age of any young person is a great time anyway, but that summer was perfect. Hot summer days, meeting new mates, the players back then

    Beckham
    Zidane
    Ronaldo
    Rivaldo
just to name a few. But over the years I've given a toss less and less about international football , even the Premier leauge. This world Cup is a joke and knowing our luck, we'll win the world cup no one wants.

Will the team be 'taking the knee' during the world cup, or will all conscience be switched off for the duration?

I was there for 2 weeks, seen some unbelievable players. My favourite tournament though was Germany 2006, I went with the lads and travelled all over Germany for the full tournament, Germany and its people is a fantastic country to visit.
