Not sure if this has been discussed recently or I've missed something. But what on earth has happened to the lad? He should have been back by now. nufc.com keep stating that that he remains part of the squad but out of the selection process, along with the likes of Jonas and Facunda Ferreya. Has he become persona non grata as well?

I believe he has had several set backs with his injury woes. I believe he restarted first team training on the 19th February 2015 (last Thursday). Therefore you would think it will be about a minimum 2 more weeks before he returns. Newcastle have put no timeframe on a return though which is probably fair enough given the number of breakdowns. Him and Obertan have been huge misses for us. I can't believe Obertan wasn't fit enough to start at City. If not then surely he was good for 45mins. No we get a good helping of Le Gouf instead.

What you're saying is sort of along the lines of what I was thinking. I just thought it was a bit odd that nufc.com have lumped him in with Jonas and chucky. They're normally pretty spot on and I would have thought they would have said his comeback has been delayed for the reasons you stated. I'm probably reading more into this than I should. News is pretty slow I guess.

I totally agree about the baffling amount of pitch time Obertan has seen since his return. Le Gouf must give one hell of a hummer! Otherwise, his continued selection is as big a mystery as James Cordens success as an actor/celebrity.

I saw that he returned to training, or so said Carver but that was supposed to be at the beginning of last week. I thought he might appear against Man City. I have also kept an eye on the youth squad games and he hasnt even made the bench, so my theory is the club have kept him out of sight to prevent other teams from getting interested in him, whilst probably trying to negotiate a new contract for him. He may have already made his mind up to leave and we have dropped him in spite!

Never gets any less odd seeing people say we've missed Obertan <laugh>
