Newcastle United Wonderkid’s Contract Talks Collapse With Arsenal Ready To Swoop. please log in to view this image Roland Aarons’ future appears to lie away from St. James’ Park. Newcastle United appear to be struggling to keep hold of wonderkid winger Ronald Aarons, with the teenager’s long term future at St. James’ Park appearing to hang in the balance after contract talks between the Magpies and the player’s representatives collapsed according to the Daily Star. Signed as a precocious youngster from League One outfit Bristol City, Aarons’ progress for Newcastle has been remarkable and he burst onto the scene in the opening weeks of the season, scoring his first Premier League goal and impressing numerous onlookers with his creativity and raw pace, although he has been more on the fringes for manager Alan Pardew in recent weeks. The collapse in Aarons’ contract talks have alerted Premier League rivals Arsenal to the possibility of luring him away from Newcastle, however, with the Gunners knowing that the Magpies have to act quickly as Aarons’ current deal expires at the end of next season. The report suggests that Aarons has been offered a long term contract in the region of £6,000 per week, a deal that Aarons and his representatives feel undervalues the player’s potential and possible value to the club in the future, with one source quoted as saying it doesn’t reflect the fact he is one of the club’s “best youngsters.” http://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/1...t-talks-collapse-with-arsenal-ready-to-swoop/ Another one, as we know, that got away...
Fair play to him but from what I've heard/read we had no choice but to let him go, apparently had a very bad attitude, was regularly late to training sessions and didn't really try when he did turn up. Perhaps when we kicked him out he bucked up his ideas started knuckling down and is now becoming the player we thought he might have been. Still, he might move to Arsenal, never get a game and end up back in league 1 in 2/3 years time. Happens to 98% of the youngsters in the prem. Hope he's in the small percentage though like Jack Wilshere, Ross Barkley, Raheem Sterling etc because we need more English talent coming though!
