Rodgers still keen on Sinclair reunion as winger continues to stall on Swansea talks Liverpool continue to monitor Swansea winger Scott Sinclair, who is stalling over a new deal. Tottenham, Aston Villa and Fulham are also interested in the England youth international, who enjoyed a stellar campaign back in the Premier League. Sinclair came through the ranks at Chelsea but barely made an impact at Stamford Bridge. The 23-yearold spent time on loan at Wigan before joining Brendan Rodgers at the Liberty Stadium. The £6million-rated winger has only 14 months left on his deal and is expected to resume talks over a new contract in the next week. Last week chairman Huw Jenkins issued Sinclair with an ultimatum. He said: 'With Scott being a first-team regular we need a decision one way or the other as soon as possible so the manager can be clear in his mind on where the team goes and make sure the squad is right for August.' - MAIL ONLINE HMMMMMMMMMMMMM DO WE HAVE ANOTHER MONEY-GRABBING MERCENARIE?................... please log in to view this image
what brendan is doing to liverpool and the type of players he is after must get their fans alarm bells ringing, he is after mediocre players who have no experience of playing for a big team let alone challenging the top 4, the way he is going he be lucky to get above the bottom 4, He has strange choice of players if he wants to improve liverpool this season to say the least....this is definately showing his lack of experience at a big club that could well be heading for the bottom of the premiership and not the top this season...will he last till xmas i ask myself, i dont know but it dont look good for liverpool on the type of players he is after.....
I think Sinclair will sign for us, I'm pretty sure he'll extend his contract, he'd be a fool not to under Laudrup, no player with any sense would pass over the experience from such a Player and Manager, so I'm going for Scotty staying!.................
I think he will be gone he`s stalling like others who have left after they maximise thier options before jumping. Pity if he does as after his average season last term he has a chance to play most games and raise his profile even more under ML but they all seem to see money first and career second even iff it means gambling on possibly a short stay at a big club !
Does anybody really think that all the football management /coaches at Chelsea are stupid. Sinclair was sold to us at the price he was for a reason - namely that they had evaluated him along side all of the talent they have and came to the conclusion that he wasn't goIng to be making things happen for them in the Prem. And let's be honest, in the CC he looked real good and gave most of those backs a tough time, but in the Prem last seaon he drifted out of games for long spells and for the most part had minimal impact. Dyer on the other hand, while having a weak shot and no great crossing prowess, drove backs nuts. You can teach somebody to shoot and cross, you can't teach somebody to be more crafty and cunning. If BR really thinks Sinclair is worth a ton of money then let's cash in now while Liverpool still think he knows what he's doing and are letting him write the checks. I don't think we will get much more upside out of Sincs, hope I'm wrong, but quite frankly I'm not going to bet my money on it. Get good money from Liverpool now and apply it to somebody with more cunning and more of a brain.
Liverpool cannot initiate a move for sinclair though , another team must table an official bid for him first.
Have to agree with Yankee. Sinclair was half the player in the PL last season as he was in the CCC. Drifted in an out of games, and never shone once. Dyer on the other hand, gave defenders a torrid time, and it has to be said, his shooting and final ball delivery has improved comapred with the season before, so the lad has obviousley been putting in some training in that depatment. Will be sad to see Scott go, but, if we get a bid over £5million, we have to accept. Simple business.
Yes but whilst you're all rubbing your hands with glee at the thought of a paltry £5M (and it is at this level) spare a thought for a manager who has to replace him on a budget. Phrases like "we'll get somebody better" are much easier said than done. Whether you rate him or not Sinclair has always been one of the few players we have that would attract interest from bigger clubs and I think it would be a real shame to lose him. But more than that I always said the biggest threat to this Club wasn't a change of manager it was breaking up a team that know how to play the right way. Keep selling the family silver and we'll be in trouble.
If he does`nt sign by the start of the season, he`ll be off sooner rather than later. Come on redbluebirds, put your bid in so Liverpool can get him? If Brendan does go for him, as Dai says, his ambitions are not too grand.
We need to keep Scott Sinclair, a huge young talent who played a massive part in that great Wembley promotion day. He's young and is still developing and learning and has those rare and precious qualities - pace to burn with an end product of goals. we must keep him ...look at the Euros and you'll see the pace injected by Spain and Portugal helped them become tough opponents whose attack came wave after wave from different angles. Sinclair can develop further under Laudrup & Larsen and will be key to another solid Premiership season in 2012-13
Just found this> http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballnation/football-news/2012/06/25/91466-31252122/ Go on Huw, play a bit of hard ball. Sign up or get out. Although I would want him to sign because he is a good player for us, I honestly think he`s on his way out. Better to get money for him now than nothing in 9 months time. Still we`ll find out in the next few weeks.
Absolutely agree .... Boots on the field are always better than cash in the bank, as we sell we must always have an immediate replacement on hand either from within (ideally) or a transfer in pending closure. Easier said than done, but it has to be the business principle otherwise we end up with the "Scotland" situation.
Looks like HJ has learned lessons from the past. Good for him. As much as we all like Sinclair (I think!) I don't believe we should let him run his contract down. The Club must come first.
even if we do let him run his contract down then we will have had our moneys worth out of him anyway,. £2 million is neither here or there for us and its not as if we did not get our money's worth......i dont believe i said that when we did not have two penny's to rub together a few years back...... Keep him its for his own good that he will find out at the end of the season when brendan will be sacked....
A lot of interesting and valid points made by all on both sides of for / against Sinclair. It will be interesting to see how ML tackles evaluates this - he's probably buried in game video as we speak - and then how HJ moves once the dust settles if Sinclair balks on a contract.
Not sure if we he's good enough... Admittedly we've got rid of Kuyt and will probably listen to offers on Maxi, and are light on the wings so he'd be a decent squad buy. To inform you all, if you believe rumours etc etc the wingers we're looking at are Krasic, Adam Johnson and Gaston Ramirez of Bologna (who's more of an inside forward). Don't think we can bid for Sinclair unless another club does first or if we're invited to, can we? Wouldn't want to spend more than £5M on him anyway.
